Hoping someone could provide some advice to me.
Last year there was a house on the market I wanted to buy but it was not the right time for me. It sold 21 days after it was listed and sold for 2k under asking price. It has been almost a year to the day since the current owners have been living in it.
My question is - is it normal for someone to just knock on their door and ask if they would be interested in selling? Or write them a letter?
It is a very niche style house and set up and the previous listing price was well within my budget.
Hoping someone could provide some advice to me
Are you autistic?
I’ve often wondered if I was on the spectrum, why?
I don't see why simply asking if they're interested in selling would be a problem. Since it was so recent I'm sure you'd need to make a pretty nice offer to get them to consider moving though.
>My question is - is it normal for someone to just knock on their door and ask if they would be interested in selling? Or write them a letter?
No.
No man, you can't just walk up to someone's home and say "hey are you selling?"
They'll tell you rightly to fuck off.
Get tested pal, asking someone if they are interested in selling their house out of the blue is fucking autistic
I can’t because it’s wrong or because it’s not normal? I don’t live in the US so I don’t have to worry about getting shot if thats what you mean
Are you trolling? The other anons are very opinionated on this question
Real estate fag here, yes its normal and quite common. Just write them a letter.
I once asked someone if they were interested in selling their house, the father had died and the kids lived out of town. They sold it to me. That being said I wouldn't ask someone if they wanted to sell their house if I knew that they just moved there. There are plenty of houses for sale user, just look for a different one.
I have received two letters asking that to me. So it happens. in the other hand, I throw them away.
Which gene do you guys have that make it normal to ask something like that? If someone wants to sell their house they place a sign.
Just being nosey but what makes your house special that 2 different people would write you letters?
There are not a lot of houses (of this value, with the specifications I am looking for) available right now. It would be the perfect place for me. Which is why I am keen on asking the current owners if they would consider selling
You absolutely can ask if they’re interested in selling—a letter or phone call is less confrontational. But don’t expect them to say yes. It’s their home. And they certainly would want a profit on what they paid anyway.
Of course they will not sell it without being able to find a house similar in the same location at the same or a lower price than what you offer. And they will not move without making a decent profit after moving cost and other cost
Man i’m getting so many mixed responses. Of course I want people to tell me what I want to hear but I don’t want to bother someone unnecessarily. I guess worst they could say is no. I think I’ll write a letter with my contact info and if they are ever looking to sell in the future and i’m looking they’ll have it
You europeans must be complete fucking pussies. I live in USA and several people have asked to buy my house. I just politely tell them no... You wont 'get shot' over that. Fucking retard
You will 100% look like a stalker
Realtors call me all the time. I wouldnt do it without a realtor and I'd also wait until early next year. Let the stimulus money run out. Let the pandemic eclipse. Let Christmas debt happen. Let people realize they aren't getting tax returns. Let the foreclosures happen. Profit.
Is it normal? No. I'd do it though. Conventionally it's kind of weird but you wouldn't be hurting anybody and in the worst case scenario, you'd lose literally nothing. Stop being a pussy and go ask.
This.
Write a letter or put a note in their mailbox. Just be aware that unless they need to sell, if they just moved in they are unlikely to give you a deal. On the other hand, if you tell them you are interested, they now have an option.
Realtors contact you out of the blue looking to put your house on the market?
Thanks guys i’m going to write a letter and mail it to them. They’ll contact me if they are interested - if not i’ll keep looking
Send address to prove it’s a nice house
I once asked someone if they were interested in selling their home, the father got so pissed off he went on a rampant drinking episode.
He beat up his wife, she got paralysed from neck down, the kids were then taken by their uncles. One of the kids got molested by the uncle who was a pastor. The father eventually died in the house in fire due to cigarette he dropped on the sofa as he fell asleep.
There are plenty of houses for sale user, just look for a different one. Don't ruin families with your questions.
Write a letter saying you’re a realtor and say you have clients very interested in buying that house and if they would consider selling it. Worth a try it’ll be less sketchy and they’ll be more comfortable.
Kek
No, not trolling. It's a perfectly normal question. The anons calling you autistic are just retards in an echo chamber.
I keep getting ads from places like "knock.com" or various sell homes for cash in my mailbox. I let me take a look and see what they would offer, and they always lowballed me to hell. My home is worth $220k on the fair market, and they wanted to buy my house for $80k. I'm like fuck off. So yeah, send them a letter.
You'll have to make it worth while to them like offering well above market
