Assault weapons are fully automatic weapons that are already banned. This is political posturing for the democrat part's low IQ base because they know their voters don't care to know what they're talking about, only that saying it makes them feel good.

Handguns are best for nefarious attacks. They lack the power but they can easily be concealed and have a much greater appeal to criminals. People should be able to open carry rifles and shotguns without worry.
And let's not forget, the 2nd amendment is simply the right to rebel against your own government in the case of a tyrannical takeover. It has nothing to do with hunting, going to the range, or eating stupid fucking gophers or rabbits. It's about every citizen being in the militia.

I've seen so many Democratic lawmakers and presidential candidates time and time again confuse fully automatic weapons ("assault rifles" which are already effectively banned) and semi-automatic rifles, which would comprise of AR-15s and a wide variety of hunting rifles (anything other than bolt-action and muskets). It's frustrating and I'm always left wondering if it's on purpose or if it's sheer ignorance.

Not to mention rifles are easier to use and cause way less fatalities per year than handguns. I want a rifle because they're better for home defense and I know my girlfriend would have a much easier time handling one if the need ever arose.

The old AWB was basically a ban on firearm cosmetics, and any new one they try would be the same. You'll never get semi-automatic guns banned, because nearly every gun is semi-automatic.

It's on purpose. There is no actual problem with the gun laws, if anything they're too strict, but they can still score political points from exploting tragedies rather than advocating for self defense rights.
Even if every gun in the country were banned, people would have them.
If every gun were confiscated, they could still be made.

if you have to ask what an assault weapon is you are definitely part of the problem. If you need an AR-15 or something similar to "protect your house" you need to stop doing what eve it is you are doing that you have that many people wanting to come kill you.

Get a 20 gauge shotgun. Shotgun better for home defense and 20 gauge is small enough to handle while still having stopping power. And teach her how to use it. Weapon is worthless otherwise.

Actually I have a conceal carry. My weapon of choice is my little ruger lc 9 with a laser site since it fits snuggly into the small of my back. I also own a double barrel shot gun, a semi automatic 12g shot gun, a couple 22's and a 308. I also bow hunt for deer and turkey. I own 2 crossbows also but do not hunt with those since I consider it cheating. So yeah we can talk guns all day long. You dumb asses just like to piss people off with semantics.
