How would converting a private residence into a private club (most in the industry just call that shit "development"..., which is like half the people in Florida) give up someone's legal right to live in an area? The 3 consecutive days thing is pretty fucky, but residency restrictions are pretty common in resort areas.
My folks had a cabin in a resort in northern mid-Michigan when I was a kid. They, and all of the places around there had policies that you couldn't stay for more than a few months at a time even though the members actually held a deed to their place.
They lifted the restriction some time after my folks sold. People we know saw their property values plummet when other people started running businesses out of there and had broken down cars parked in front of their places.
It's a round about way of getting around trailer trash behavior. Seems pretty effective too.

Palm Beach is a very liberal very Jewish area. My best guess is the the mayor is most concerned with being perceived as anti-Trump.
I understand all of that, I'm in real estate. However, the way the mayor lays it out in the letter is basically "He had a private residence at one point that he developed, so of course now he doesn't have the right to live in Mar-a-Largo" makes very little sense. It's likely referring to an agreement about a particular property, and from what I understand wouldn't really restrict one's right to stay at another piece of property in Mar-a-Largo that they owned, leased, or had permission to stay at.

I legit think many of them are struggling to come to grips with a reality that refuses to conform both to what they want it to be and what those they trusted promised it would be.
I have exactly one friend who is (was?) a true believer. Was sure Trump would win in a landslide, was sure his lawsuits would correct this little hiccup, was sure the Supreme Court would fix this mess, was sure the electors would save the day. I literally have not seen him online in any capacity since the electors officially made Biden the president-elect. Either he's sobering up from a years-long Kool-Aid bender, or he's performing incredible mental gymnastics such that Trump losing the election and 60 lawsuits is all part of a 9D chess game, the logic of which is merely hidden.
We'll see which way he ends up going.

I have similar friends - I've been struggling to understand the ratio between how much these people truly believe, vs how much is just a front at an attempt to control the message.
Before I thought it was mostly just a front, that they were happy to openly bullshit to trigger the libs and pretend they are never wrong, but now I'm starting to think they really believed that rally crowd sizes mattered, that there was a huge Trump groundswell, a silent majority that would always swing their way.
It's sad to think so many people have fallen into a fact-free alternate reality.
