Face it, Tim Henson is the best guitarist of our generation, and no one else is even close

>first humbucker - in a gretsch
>first man famous for being a guitarist - gretsch player
>first guitars used for rock n roll - gretsch
>Copied incessantly by Gibson - Gretsch

Only a Gretsch is good enough.

Neither of these kids are any good live. It takes them multiple takes to pull anything off.

>Tim Henson
Sloppy as fuck in every performance, period. Polyphia is notoriously bad as a live band. Metallica tier.
>Ichika
In the rare occasion he shows up, usually to shill for Fender, he's a mistake ridden mess.

>Steve Vai literally ride's tim's nuts, he's always sucking Tim's dick on instagram
Well, like it or not these guys are the face of guitar now to the younger generation. I personally can't stand his music (theres something about it that sounds very "artificial" to me) but for better or for worse this is what guitar music has to offer now, I guess its better than guitar as a medium completely dying so theres that

electric guitar is alive and well in every other cultural sphere and acoustic has always done well

you're just a burger

kek, polyphia really shit the bed

Actually it's john mayer, yvette young, ed sheeran, and post malone.

timmy hendrix is a literally who.

is a tube amp worth it if you're just going to play it at low volume? Got a Boss Katana but thinking of using my trumpbux on an Orange Rocker 15 since it can go down to half / one watt. I've pretty much never used a tube amp outside of a few times at guitar stores so I don't have much to compare with.

Tube amps are the best tone for your dollar and they're plug in and go. Most of the best non-meme ones are around $500 used. All you need to do is change a couple of light bulbs once a year.

If you actually want a good live tone out of the katana, you have to use the head with a quality cab, or use the combo's recording output straight to the PA and ignore the speaker, and you have to make extensive use of the boss tone studio software. It's a lot of work to dial something good in and you probably don't have a recording/live sound tech or more experienced guitarist who can tell you what a good tone is if you're seriously so new you'd 1: give the katana the time of day 2: ask about it in this shithole. The only digital shit that's as grab and go as a tube amp is the $2000 powered kemper and you need to grab something and have good tone with minimal bullshit.

>But user, I don't play shows or record anything
Why the fuck do you need any of this nice shit then? Nobody else is going to hear it anyways. Just get a fender frontman 10g and a couple of behringer pedals.

square pegger mockery aside tube amps are shitty practice amps. they sound like shit without a full band. seriously. you love the sound of a tube amp in a band, but a tube amp in the corner of your bedroom sounds like garbage.

anyone have chords for Yes! from BanG poppin' party? Finding chords for weaboo shit is hard.

>seriously so new
I've had the Katana for over a year and I've been playing for half a decade.

All I've ever owned are cheap SS amps - Microcube to Mustang 1 V2 to Katana. I don't like all the knobs to fiddle with, nor having to edit settings on computers.

>is a tube amp worth it if you're just going to play it at low volume?
no, absolutely not

No, nobody tabs your weeb songs. Ever.

>Only a Gretsch is good enough.

Hey Zeus, Christy, it's that great Gretsch sound.

Attached: knottygretsch.jpg (564x564, 40.36K)

i mean theyre great when theyre running hot but if you can get your hands on a tube amp that has a master volume and possibly more than one channel you can definitely have some great tones at a low volume. also attenuators are a thing but if you arent trying to gig or play with people honestly id go for like a terror or TH30. solid state heads are a different argument they are way cheaper for the most part and dont have the same harmonic responses but if you are into stoner and doom then a ss head with a fuzz pedal is fucking amazing

Ignore this zoomer. If you need more than one channel and one volume knob you suck at guitar. Crank it for that tone and play good music.

>ANALOG GEAR

i mean to each their own but imma have a lot of fun stacking dirt

rocker 15 is two channels, having cleans and dirt is vital to me. it's also got four attenuation settings, no master volume though.

>people with not enough money to buy band merchandising enjoy fast music

what the fuck does this even mean, not seeing the correlation

If it was up your ass you'd know.

havent played the rocker, used to own a terror and it was pretty great. i think the difference in them is just the dual channel feature im not a 100% sure. only cons i encountered with it was that in a full band setting it got lost and could hardly hear it when cranked. i

250 kangaroo bucks is too much of a steal

When will 24 frets and ultra-access heels die?

Nobody uses them. Nobody. People actually fret the 7th and 8th strings more than they play past the 17th fret. Since they're barely used, it's better to focus on constructing a sturdier gutiar instead.

nobody even needs doublecuts anymore. strats are canceled.

Hehe, I don't mean to embarrass you but it's spelled: Rhoads. The RR1 is a little to pointy for my liking but you do you, user. The quality is definitely there.

lol my guitar plugin sounds better than your stupid 400 dollars TOOB AMP

Tone is in the fingers.

You don't know what it means to truly bond with a guitar. You have to love it, caress it, penetrate it, and impregnate it, and then it can bear your children, your songs.

This is not a metaphor. You must jizz on your guitar and rub your sperm into the wood. This is why you need a nitro finish, it lets the wood breathe and soak up your baby batter.

There's plenty of good ss options other than tubes, the Katana just happens to not be one of them.

Economy picking is great for finding new directionally based sequences.

Between Bugera v22 Infinium and Vox AC15, which one would you choose? I am undecided between these two, I’ve seen good reviews on the internet on both amps but never got the chance to try the Bugera. Almost every guitarist I’ve met has a Vox, AC15/30 or alot more expensive variations of these so I know how Vox sounds. I’ve only had ss amps so far and decided to get a tube amp that can take pedals well enough.

>first man famous for being a guitarist - gretsch player

Andres Segovia would like a word with you.

Chet is baller.

Practicing sequences is not the goal. Making music is the goal. Whew! Just kept myself from getting sucked into a black hole.

Ibanez TSA15

The Ac15's that are new have qc issues, this goes for the non hand-wired ac15's, If you get a good one they're good, and the Bugera is interesting, but still a Behringer product.

Kind of sloppy though. Youtuber tier

What issues do the ac15s usually have?

so how do you record electric guitar

is an interface + amp sin the best option? I dont really want to fuck around with trying to mic up an amp. Just want to listen to myself playing but not have it be really shitty quality like when I record my amp via phone

no amp, just interface and bias fx

micing up an amp is no hassle at all if you already have both items, just stick it in the vicinity of the speaker, massaging tonal minutiae for a mix is another thing

Circuit board.

don't you need a relatively expensive mic for that to work though

and yeah im not really too great at EQ, I can make shit sound better but that seems like a headache when you can just plug it into an interface

Does anyone actually want to hear this, especially this high pitched? It's basically musical masturbation. You do it alone in your bedroom to fell good about yourself. Even modern shredders like polyphia basically only use 21 fret guitars with decorative lines and could use regular strats if their hands weren't too puny for a high test american male style neck joint.

>dude, i need a 24 fret guitar to use 21 frets, you don't get it, the heel makes it impossible

Attached: Untitled.jpg (1018x525, 155.3K)

you can buy decent SM57 clones for $20 that will sound good with even a behringer preamp

>hapa handlets

John Mayer was good dickhead

its dad pop

Get an old Silverface Fender Champ.
$500, 3 knobs, awesome tone, done.

People can have different preferences, you know. Why does it matter so much to you that others might like something that you don’t like?

No. The SM57 design is 60+ years old and has been cloned dozens of times. You can get a decent mic for cheap.
And if you’re recording yourself for yourself, you just need A microphone. Let the studiofags worry about optimal placement. As long as you can get your sound into the computer, that’s good enough to start.

i wonder what sam is doing rn (right now)

Guys I just want to play guitar, can't I just get a cheap Les Paul and some digital pedalboard and call it a day? I seriously don't give a fuck about tones.

you're inventing excuses if you think gear is going to hold you back in any way shape or form from practicing guitar literally right now

faggot

>silverface champ
>awesome tone
At 110db minimum.

How is the pedalboard going to make sound? You need a power amp and a speaker. Traditional combo amps are always cheaper.

This probably

you don't even need an amp if you just want to practice playing electric guitar

What are some top tier guitar and amp pairings for dual guitar bands?

Let's say I play a telecaster through a deluxe reverb. What are some complimentary guitar/amp combos to play alongside?

I've always liked running a deluxe reverb with a princeton reverb for slightly different yet harmonious tones. I don't really like combining humbuckers with single coils, though.

Same amps, one wet, one dry.

any tips for strumming? i've started playing 2 weeks ago and i have some trouble with strumming on a consistent level
not talking about rythm or strumming patterns, just how to hold hand/wrist and pick and stuff like that. especially for strumming up i always notice i'm not hitting all the strings or that i'm hitting certain strings harder than the others

Listen to his actual stuff. It’s not that hard to find, and a lot of it isn’t too hard to play that you’ll ragequit, especially once you get used to some of his custom tunings.
But that doesn’t mean it can’t be challenging. His fingerstyle technique was very advanced, and a bunch of famous players are totally obsessed with his work, yet can never quite play some of his stuff perfectly. That’s got to say something.

Practice on a $2500 shitplank instead. It makes poor people so incredibly mad. It's hilarious how many tricks they'll pull to avoid saying they just couldn't afford it.

>how do i strum a guitar?

You either got it or you don't.

Posting on /lgbt/mtfg asking where to buy hormones.

Same guitars too? Or are you talking about one guitarist playing through two amps?

How "wet" are we talking? I don't normally play with any effects other than fuzz or overdrive and the occasional echo.

Line6 Pod and a pair of headphones.

its normal for upstrokes to take longer to master

>he thinks having some average income wagecuck job and blowing all his money on gear makes him rich
how's that house you're living in? wait, you're not telling me you live in some kind of appartment, do you?

bass guitars are for faggots

Not joking here, but blindfolded or eyes closed for that missing the strings problem. You've got to train your muscles where the strings lay. Try to make the top 3, middle 3, and bottom 3 strings only ring out. That will help with the even pressure, too.

>$2500 is all his money

Hi /gg/, my dad said I could get a guitar so I want your advice. Is th Gretsch Country Club a good guitar to learn on? Does it have tough strings like an acoustic or is it easier like an electric. It sounds really good. I like that it is half acoustic and I don't need to plug it in to play it.
Also, if you could recommend another guitar that is green I would like to hear suggestions.
Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day.

what's the matter user, are poorfags triggering you?
i thought you were the one trying to trigger poorfags?

Yea but why the fuck would you buy a $5000 guitar if you have no fucking idea what you are doing? Might as well buy the stradivarius when you just are learning right?

You look like a fucking idiot to everyone around you when you buy something like that it's just excessive. You could go buy a used jackson, ibanez, or a fender for like 200 dollars on craigslist and get almost the same quality for your money.

Muh hollow body Muh tone Nigger you don't even know what tone is yet.

>It's hilarious how many tricks they'll pull to avoid saying they just couldn't afford it.

It actually is. And the ideal price for a guitar is a moving target based on the angriest poorfag's income. Just watch how they rage at sam because his custom les paul cost $500.

How wet? Some sort of plate verb and and a hint of slapback stereo delay, adjust to taste. The other straight out. this is a pretty easy setup but makes a good wall of sound for one or two guitarists.
You can mix or match guitars for a wide range of tones just by turning the tone and volume knobs on the guitars once you get the amps set right. This type of blend has been used on countless recordings.

It's not that expensive. A custom shop model is like, $3500.

>You look like a fucking idiot

That all depends on the rest of your life. Do you "own" a "house" in a low income suburb, make payments on a used honda civic, and dress out of JC penny's clearance section? Then maybe a $5000 guitar isn't for you. You will look like an idiot if you buy anything but a squier. Pic related is most Gibson owners in /gg/.
>of course i bought used. how could you tell?

Attached: ffK1ihZ.jpg (3264x2448, 340.29K)

Anyone spending 5000 bucks on a guitar when he doesn't even make money out of it, looks like a fucking idiot regardless of income.

how stupid you look with an expensive guitar depends on how expensive your everything else is, really.

They look like an idiot to you because you're jealous, or a jew.

It's called a collector.

I have one, and it’s more like 100db max. Their old speakers sound good, but aren’t very efficient, the tone stacks are pretty lossy, and Champs are only 5W anyway.
If you play them on 3-5, you still sound good and clean but the sound doesn’t carry that much.

Something with P-90s is what you’re looking for.
Sounds different, has a little more drive, not as bright, but still gives you that singlecoil responsiveness with less mud than a humbucker.

You’re right quantity isn’t quality. But he’s also sold tens of millions of records, won multiple Grammys, had a 20+ year career, and is probably bound for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the first ballot after he becomes eligible. So the quality part seems to be covered too.

What about you? Where are your gold records, Segovia? What do you have besides salt and trolling on an anonymous Afghan goat wrestling image board?

>b-b-b-but did he sweep pick?

you are a man of refined taste, sir

A Kramer Floyd Rose, just because you can.

Stop posting on /gg/. Go practice.

I'm a complete noob so forgive me, the low E string on my guitar sounds out of tune no matter what I do. i.e. if I tune it to play E when it's open, it sounds out of tune when I go further up the fret board. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

>Virgin
Buys a new Gibson every time his mom tells him good job

>Chad
Buys the cheapest pro-level guitar, an American Standard Stratocaster, as his first guitar. Does not buy any more guitars after that.
Doesn't even buy an amp until he can play arpeggios from hell

>the virgin complain about people with nice things
>the chad reply "nice" to every gearpost

That’s an intonation problem. You need to adjust your guitar’s saddles so that when your open string is in tune, your 12th fret is also in tune.
Get your tuner and a screwdriver, tube your open string then play your note at each string’s 12th fret. Then adjust the saddles; move them back if your 12th fret is sharp, forward if your 12th fret is flat.

you can buy used american elite and pro strats for $800 if you buy locally instead of going on reverb

local = deals
reverb = i know what i got prices+shipping+sales tax
ebay = you gon get scammed

You may need to fix your intonation.

that guy in the vid clip is in 2 or 3 shred metal bands. So he's not really only playing in his bedroom. He also runs the fan page for those 29 and 32 fret Japanese made Washburns from the 80s. Undoubtedly they are collectable now. So there is a fan base out there for them.

>It's basically musical masturbation
any virtuoso soloist type playing is
guitar=penis (or violin=penis). It's been that way since Paganini.

>polyphia
ppl want to hear metal shred a whole lot more than they want to hear dubstep influenced guitar music. 80s metal lasted for more than a decade (~1978-1993) and still has a healthy following that pays to see performers; the dubstep fad was about 6 months.

beginner here
is it normal if your low E string easily gives that rattling sound? i'm trying to find out if the action on my guitar is too low, if i'm picking the string too hard or if i just need to build up more finger strength

Thanks anons

no, it isn't supposed to do that
it's likely contacting a fret somewhere

>action on my guitar is too low, if i'm picking the string too hard or if i just need to build up more finger strength
It could be any of these, first make sure that it isn't hitting another fret somewhere else

lol non of that makes it not dadpop, and Im not telling him, Im telling you

Action may be too low, your form could be bad, or there may be something else out of whack.
Take it to a guitar repairman with a set of your preferred strings and ask for a “setup”. It’ll cost something like $50, but after that your guitar should be ready to go. Any buzzing after that and it’s on you and your form.

forgot to mention that this only happens when i'm pushing down on a fret, it doesn't happen when i'm playing the string open unless i pluck it really hard
the justinguitar course had me try and play the peter gunn theme and this is when i noticed it a lot. the only way i'm not getting it is if i either push down much harder on the frets, or if i pick the string a lot more gentle
will probably just take it to a luthier like user suggested to be sure

thats expensive. its very easy and rewarding to do your own guitar setup. Literally no reason to take it to a shop unless you want them to cut and fit a new nut or something

I agree. You should learn how to do adjustments to your guitar to get the most out of it.
