It's actually Shotgun Willie.
Red Headed Stranger and Stardust are better

This is an honest query, I own this album, I like Townes but apart from Pancho and Lefty what is the appeal?
I like some of his stuff but this album just sounds like "talkin new york blues" Bob Dylan rip off.
Townes is just country for people who think country is icky
That's not true. The Late Great Townes Van Zandt is a fucking great album.
Isn't that Cash's American recordings?
That exact line is quoted for many country artists. Stop being a parrot and have your own opinions.
Here
Still waiting for an answer
Nah mate, American Recordings the original by my boy J Cash.
Nice try, tho
honestly fair, but Cash is just loved by everyone.
it is my own opinion.
Shut the fuck up, I love country and Townes is great. You probably think The Byrds are a great country band.
not particularly, if u want a target my fav older country artist is Dolly Parton
I get that impression from people who listen to him also. What other artists do people put in that category? Cause any of the greats like Cash, Dolly, Willie etc. undeniably have that country cred
The appeal is that he's a great fucking songwriter lmao

He's honestly more folk than country. He just got caught up in the country scene because of he's from Texas. The people who produced his records didn't really know what they were working with and just tried to copy the Nashville style of recording. Townes is at his best when it's just him and a guitar.
These songs are just so damn good
what style does Townes play guitar wise?
he finger picks but has steel on his fingers?
youtube.com
Those are just little finger picks.
I think they just help with finger picking a bit.
>ywn get to experience these 3 dominating the industry
what are some of your fave dolly albums. i think the fairest of them all is underrated
I love Fairest, but my favs are Coat of Many Colors (I know) and The Grass is Blue
>unheard sessions
>live
>video unavailable
>video unavailable
>(private concert)
Why is his stuff so inaccessible?
Nah, Dolly is great.
This album is a fucking banger. I used to listen to it every day while I was at work.
He drank himself to death, and his music was never profitable enough for some company to have a vested interest in disseminating it.
both fantastic albums
Until Steve Earle named his son after him and recorded an album with him and called him better than Dylan.
Death wish.
>stardust
ick
>he finger picks but has steel on his fingers?
>Those are just little finger picks.
they give a clearer brighter tone, all bluegrass scruggs style banjo players use them. its like walking with high heels on imo
>Townes is just country for people who think country is icky
we should shame those who cant handle twang past townes. he is great though
listen to this if you wanna be a real redneck

Kacey Musgraves
That sounds like country pop
I don't want FAST I want DEEP
Anything like Hank Williams crossed with Cash ?
I read all three of his biographies. It's my opinion that he never cared for any of it. He was your run of the mill smooth talker Mr Gambler, he just had a very insightful sight to him which made him write the way he did
>I read all three of his biographies
Steve Earle?
I read the first one, it played out like he was Jim Morrison.
