How do I achieve low action on a strat? I spent all day yesterday trying to setup my new guitar with low action but I couldn't get it as low as I wanted without fret buzz or it fretting out.
I compared my strat to my esp which had my ideal action right out the box and noticed the nut height is higher and also the frets are lower than on my strat.
My friend said that the action on strats can't be too low because of the trem bridge, but I'm not sure if he really knows what he's talking about.
I've been googling and read a variety of things, but I don't want to just start changing random parts on my guitar.
tl;dr: how do I set my action on my new strat low like on metal guitars.

what kind of strat is it? if its not at least an american performer or standard, you need some fretwork
Aaron Johnson
its a player series strat

>squier mustang hh >21 frets >gay offset in pastel colors
If it's an American performer or standard he still needs some light fretwork, and the tremolo bridge on the american performer is awful. Fender wanted it that way because the standard was competing with the more expensive strats. As it turns out, actual guitar players are less enticed by factory electronics gimmicks than anticipated and prefer to add that stuff themselves, but things like nicer tremolos are what they're all about.
So the cheap standard with its nice bridge had to go, or else nobody would pay $1500, aka the price of an all mahogany nitro finished set neck SG standard with neck binding, a one to two piece body, and depending on the year, pricey high end 57 classic pickups, for two to three pieces of alder glued together, painted with cheap polyurethane, and screwed onto a piece of maple (also coated in cheap poly) with some of fender's most often replaced stock electronics thrown in.
>Fender is /ourbrand/!

actual guitar players also don't care about or have a use for compound radius meme guitars.
>dude, flat for shred, round for chords! >can't get a good low action all across the neck

>i need to shred >i don't know what spray paint is >if its not a superstrat its gay typical metalfag

>band on Craigslist is looking for bassist >NOFX ripoff with typical Fuck Drumpf songs >sounds cringe but they don't seem to care about skill plus they're close to home >not sure whether to join or not since the sports team I manage may or may not be back in operation by June Wat do lads

I agree. Fender USA's price to quality ratios are so ridiculous they shield Gibson from being the exclusive target of my distaste.
I only play Dean and PRS guitars these days, the big two can't compete.

Dean USA.
>I judge every brand by the worst guitar with their name on it posters So where's /gg/s burning hatred for gibson because studio/tribute/faded guitars are china tier trash stamped "USA"?
Punk and it's derivatives are great for bass playing, but don't join a NOFX style band, since that shit is just as cringe to punks now as it is to everyone else.

that wraparound doesn't fit the guitar

I fucking love how bass sounds live. On a rock/metal record it's hard to feel it but live it fucking steals the show
