i consider myself influenced by scaruffi, but he presents himself as an approachable normal human being too much to be 'worshipped'. you can just email the guy and he'll often reply even if your a half retard. sure people here parrot his opinion because they seem contrarian but he's a unique case for rock criticism - unemployed by click baity online magazines and off the radar of label pressure to review a certain way. there's a consistency to his criticism that is beneficial for new listeners to observe. sure, one should ween themselves off of momas tit someday and listen with their own ears but as rare as it is for listeners to be significantly objective in judging art it is almost as rare for listeners to be 100% subjective. we are all victims of following the herd and letting other influence our opinions. this is why true creativity is so rare and why radiohead #1 and 2 in rym top 100. people just want to fit in and most music fans get sold some hype about radiohead and apparently a lot of people swallowed that load with no questions.
