Idk the entire boomer memes turned me off of this album making me think it was overrated prog #25 but now listening to it I actually kind of like it. Wouldn't consider it BEST OF ALL TIME HOLY SHIT but it's a neat record.

Yuh it's pretty cool. I personally like Wish you were here more but it's pretty accessible and has some of the band's most popular hits so I can see why a lot of people point DSotM for newcomers. Tracks like Time and Money are catchy as fuck and Brain Damage and Eclipse are the like best back to back to song duo ever since it's basically just one song. Great Gig in the Sky is also a banger with some loud black woman singing over boomer beats kino.

Brain damage and eclipse on acid is like a universal way of opening your mind into a feel of rebirth.

Yeah I think it's neat and has a very simple yet abrasive sound where the sounds seem to stand out alot. Not the best album ever but is still a neat project.

Compositionally its a triumph, and as a statement on mortality and the drudgery of life it basically achieved something that hadn't been done in rock music before. It's a great album and unironically one of the best of all time. Boomers are right sometimes you know.

That's the biggest problem with it. Is that it's just a "good" album for the time when everything else in the prog space was so much better at the time. So when it's singled out, it becomes incredibly overrated for such a basic album.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the album's quality.
