>Not the Actual Events
>Add Violence
>Bad Witch

How do these stack up against the NIN classics? Do you think there was an improvement from Hesitation Marks to these releases? Did the Trilogy make you optimistic for future NIN releases?

There's one song he preformed live about a friend of his that died on one of those. It went from a freakshow to legitimately serious tone. That was a chilling experience. I believe the song was called wish I had more time with you or something like that.

You're thinking of "This Isn't the Place". And it's about David Bowie.

These albums are all garbage. NIN stopped being NIN in 2001.

This trilogy was the ultimate return to form, it as an entire unit they are amongst the best NIN releases right up there with Spiral and Fragile, not better but just as good, I can't believe I am saying that but they are just incredible. There re a shit ton of layers and emotional depth which I was missing for a long time, the amount of experimentation that happens is very exciting, a lot of these songs are some of the heaviest shit Trent has done in a long ass time and some of these songs are easily some of the best NIN songs. I am beyond excited to see where Trent could take NIN from here.
Not The Actual Events is an amazing first act, really aggressive and menacing as all hell, unlike his other heavy stuff this is far "doomier" and darker than what I am used to hearing from NIN.
Add Violence is the more melodic, as a second act it nicely continues and establishes the story further, the atmosphere is very immersive in a lot of these songs, yet the darkness and aggression remain, The Background World is one of the best NIN songs, pretty much flawless from beginning to its end.
Bad Witch is one of the most experimental thing Trent has ever done and ends The Trilogy wonderfully, it is highly energetic and incredibly diverse offering.
I don't have any flaws to mention, I guess I just wish they were normally released one as an album, I think it would give them far more attention, they are meant to be listened to as one record and that is the best way to experience them, Trent and Atticus NEED to -rerelease them as one as they've planned in the past.
That "friend" was David Bowie bro.

David Bowie died?

Yeah? Of cancer dude, four years ago. Blackstar as an album was all about his death

>I guess I just wish they were normally released one as an album,
It wouldn’t exist as it does now because Trent would’ve focused on making a single work at one time rather than three separate but connected ones at different times.

I guess that is true, if Trent made it as one album it would also be very stuck to one style, either NTAE/AV or BW one, this way we got one supposed one album spread across three records which offer us far more diversity.

>being this clueless
Stop living under a rock.

I have no idea if he is serious or not, that must hit pretty hard to find out Bowie's fucking dead

Bump

Add Violence > NTAE > Bad Witch
That being said it's really difficult to make it work as a trilogy in my opinion, they're sll vastly different and I don't feel enough connections apart from NTAE and Add Violence, they're great by their own but as a trinity they don't work well. Trent did state that he once thought of rerecording them into a full album or mixing them as so but that might become as real as Tapeworm. I do really enjoy the first two though.

Bad Witch feels really disconnected from everything in my opinion.

I have no idea why people jerk off Add Violence so much. Its easily the dullest work Trent has ever put out and I say that as someone who has jerked off to Trent while listening to a NIN Fuck playlist

What pics did you jerk off to?

It's really interesting actually.

bum

>tfw no more full albums, just EPs everywhere

>no.more albums
>Together
>Locusts
The fuck are you talking about?

Locusts is fucking based by the way

i like the groove of over and out and dear world. burning bright has that realy gnarly bass. idea of you is dave grohl running on high octane, god brake down down the door has these wailing horns and mechancal clicking and printer noises

Dear World is the most underrated song of the trilogy and has lyrics.

Meant to say that it has the best lyrics.

there's also I Can't Give Everything Away he does sometimes

The Trilogy might the best releases of NIN right behind the eternal TDS et TF, it's really great. So fuck yes it's an improvement, and T&A are in a creative rut. The future looks bold. Can't wait for the next album. Now if they could fucking release the trilogy as one album it would be cool.

yeah, and that's certainly what helped them grow with each EP, but it would be cool for NTAE and AV not to be left as EPs behind the small BW LP. let them all be at the same level they deserve it

I like them but it would be better without Trent's singing

it's emotionally charged and honest but opaque, so nothing you can understand without a little effort and empathy

Dear World sends me in a ritualistic trance fever dream and it's great, very similar to God Break Down The Door in that effect

>has never listened to This Isn't the Place

No lol it's a dumb Zig Forums meme

Add Violence sounds like the most "organic" or "natural" of the three now that I think about it. I don't know what you all think but in my ears the more electronic sounds combined with the more honest and straight to the point vocal and lyrical work makes it so.
