What was once considered cool about rock bands to teenagers is no longer cool, because all of the people who represented rock and roll have sold out, died, or are now experiencing the effects of a lifetime of drug abuse. If you decide to join a rock band that's fine, but you're going to be catering to people who are in their late twenties up. That's all fine; there are plenty of people willing to listen to new rock music, but like said don't expect to make any money doing it. Record labels aren't paying expensive bands to cater to an age group that downloads shit for free when they can pay one black guy to mumble "gotta get me some bitches and lean." into a microphone for an hour over some samples and maybe get him a rubber duck to have sex with because he needs a break.

That's exactly my point though. The trend of rock has gone like rock n roll before it and jazz before it. It will always have its audience, but it isn't popular music any more. What's popular now is one black dude saying things into a microphone quickly and that's cool, I have nothing against it. I hope the studios continue to supply them with stale beats that they can autotune adlib about "bitches and lean" forever, because that way the studios can spend the rest of the money on lawyers and coke like they always have.

Nobody cares what you reject, they are considered to be two distinct styles of music. Otherwise you're saying that Elvis Presley and Radiohead play the exact same type of music when clearly there are stylistic differences. And you can say indigo doesn't exist if you want, that's fine, but it objectively does. If you asked a painter to paint a wall blue and then asked them to change it to indigo, the color they paint the wall would be objectively different.
