Call this a "reach" all you want, but I see Billie's whole cultural mystique as being quite conservative, in that she and her music is a conservative response to all the angst Gen Z is facing in the era of Trump. To compare, emo rock was arguably a conservative response to all the angst teens and young adults were facing in the 2000s: rather than music which promoted rising up and fighting the system, emo was all about self-pity and wallowing in being a victim. Billie does the same in that there is nothing empowering or militant in anything she sings about; rather, it's about how she maintains her innocence as a poor little white woman victim crying in the corner while everyone else is making her situation hell. There's a reason why Karens from Middle America love her just as much as their 14-year old daughters do.
