Post what you're looking for in feedback. Be specific if possible.
GIVE feedback to GET feedback.
PLEASE ignore tripfags and attention seekers

Post WIP's on Clyp.it or Vocaroo. You may NOT link to Soundclouds, Bandcamp- there are dedicated threads for posting them and anything resembling self promotion will result in bad feedback.

The state of discussion about all music making and audio topics is terrible here on Zig Forums, and we definitely need a dedicated board.
Here's the full argument for it:

Keeping the tradition of posting shit music in this thread

This is cool, very wonky and spacious. The guitar (?) that comes in a minute in really ties the mood together. That fat buzzy bass at the end is really delicious too. I kind of wish the tempo would kick up a little bit at that point, maybe just 5 bpm. What do you use to make those glitchy flourishes?

Straight-up video game vibes. Very fun but the pulsing bass should be used a biiiit more sparingly. Some breaks from its onslaught in the middle of the song, maybe with some pads, a little chill out zone, would be welcome.

What's the best free tb 303 vst I can get to use with Renoise?

Are there any vsts you can get that act like ableton's beat repeat?

hi im trying to make broken, sorta wonky music. not obnoxiously so. ima lso trying to get better at not relying on a lot of elements to make a good song so im interested as to if this is compelling enough. clyp.it/ysthq151

I'm . Definitely interesting tune but you need to bury some of these elements in the mix. Everything feels right out front and in your face which is exhilarating at first, but gets exhausting, and any melody is lost beneath the treble-heavy squelch. You'd be surprised at how effective some of these more fragmented elements can be when you bury and arrange them just right.

Hi guys, I would love some feedback on this beat i'm making. I'm not sure what genre it comes under but i'm new to this beatmaking thing. please have a listen and give me some honest feedback, thanks!

voca.ro/gtb1U5j1rox

thank you, im glad its interesting. youre right about mixing it better, its proving hard as a lot of the track is coming from granular sample of an older song of mine. how would you suggest going about fixing that? maybe just scooping out some of the mids in everything that I can?

A good start, you have all the elements there. But bring those synths forward. I can barely hear them. If you want them to feel distance, you need to do something with the drums; perhaps through a light chorus on them to round them out, or some reverb.

Also, do more with the bass than just tones. That was the hardest habit for me to escape for a while but bass doesn't constantly have to fill the lower sonic space. Leaving some room down there can really have a nice effect. Listen to the bass in some of your favorite songs and try to emulate their patterns.

I'm not really sure. It might be an arrangement issue, where if you stack the elements correctly it'll click better. Id find out which two are three elements are high priority for the track, and then try to squeeze in the other elements around those, if that makes sense.

The mids dont seem to be the problem, it's the upper end of the spectrum that's harshing my otherwise full enjoyment of the tune.

Im taking a stinky poop. This is probably my 5th poop of the day. I might make more coffee. I think music is stupid. Electronic music takes no talent. These are big poops too, each one would fill your hand if you picked it up. I don't like poop, it's coarse and it gets everywhere. What are good things to do to make music? I have a computer but its really new and expensive, probably moreso than yours. I own a OP1 and a big Orange amp and an MPC. How many tracks should I post in this thread, 5 or 65?

Why the fuck is everyone ok with nazi shit here? You guys r dumb

I want to teach you so much but because you're a beginner i'll keep it simple..Ok, here's what you really need to know. Bass is integral to music. It's is the true backbone to all music. Drums/Beats are ONLY rhythm, and guitars/synths etc are ONLY melody. But bass? Bass is BOTH. That's why bass makes or breaks a song. So when in doubt BOOST it out! With all that being said; You need to Learn how to boost your bass. I can help you out quite a bit if you ask,but for now what you need to focus on is Making great bass patches.
So, Let's get started:
1- to make a beginner bass,
get a defult patch in Harmor,
turn the low-pass on A to 10%
and 0% on B,
2- then turn the Sub up on both
A and B,
3- next turn on some slight distortion and then EQ the sub in the mixer up all the way.
Ubvoteb!

I’m not and I’m annoyed that people are bumping

it's a /prod/ thread, it'll be low quality posters ITT no matter what the pic is.

OP here.
I didn't mean to endorse Hitler or Nazi sypmathizers.
I was just humouring the previous thread, which seemed to have a lot of Zig Forums crossposters.

>humoring Zig Forums
go fuck yourself, you are complicit in that nonsense

not posting in this Zig Forums shit thread

OP is probably dubbi deja vu

Bro the best thing to do is go to vst4free, look at the categories, and install a bunch from each one. Google what they mean, they mess around with some knobs.
you can find the types you like and learn how to use them.
effects are a whole other thing.
when I am in the mood I will install 50 different synths and effects just to find something new.
a lot of VSTs are very useful but won't sound good until you get to know them and how to use them, so it's really about spending time with it. there are so many synths, and the best ones will have preset banks made by people who love them, so if you don't want to learn all the knobs, you can get those.
so the redpill is just that every synth is good and useful if used in the right way in the right song

Try Livecut.

You're better off making your own.

>You're better off making your own
that's literally hard

Dubbi is mean. Ignore anything he says, he shits on my music even though it's good. So 100% don't let it get to you. he's not even listening and he wouldn't even know gold if he heard it. there's this common misunderstanding on boards with younger ages that Zig Forums is a place where it's normal/considered funny to a act like a complete retard. in his case he doesnt seem aware that his acting retarded is a consequence of being actually completely boundaryless and mentally deranged. i think hes too retarded to see the difference between posters who are acting retarded and hence creating ironic/provocative/giggle inducing jokes and his complete derangement. i realize it actually takes years to become accustomed to the culture, and see actuality through what's being said but when i was this was a high schooler i kept lurking.

i really wish he would just have some respect for others and stay lurking instead. 2bh tho he prolly has parents that beats the shit out of him and refuse to acknowledge or understand him. cant imagine the dude has emotionally healthy friendships either. what he really needs is therapy and maybe when he can behave some human warmth

Hello my dudes, I would like some feedback on my humble synthwave WIP. Seems like the right thread :^)

I think its supposed to be ironic to induce butthurt.

Working on a garage track rn and I currently have this loop but I feel like it's missing something.

Maybe a counter melody/some harmonics and some extra rims/snares to emphasise the swing of the drums?

Appreciate any feedback/suggestions.

i might make a mega account and upload 500gb worth of "not stolen" production vid/books i have and add it to the OP if anyone is interested?

stop posting in this thread

make another general then

You should take a page out of my book and show off some more personality; It's more important than what most of the posters in /prod/ will admit to and that's why they're still completely unknown bedroom musicians. You have to have a vision that you really, actually believe in. Good art is equal parts aware and deluded. If you develop a cult of personality around the core values of your art you will naturally attract people seeking to get rid of their own self-doubt through what you've made. It's basically narcissistic arrogance but in a good way. There's a reason why people describe listening to a really good song as "clicking;" it successfully connects disparate ideas that wouldn't have been noticed without the delusional self-importance of your vision.
tl;dr you aren't delusional, arrogant, or ballsy enough yet to create genuinely vibrant music
You can't get on my level
You have to appreciate the power of overtones. You can use the very highest and lowest notes at certain times but they're far less useful that the middle range of a keyboard. Lots of low tones sound muddy and any harmony is lost, lots of high tones sound hollow and any harmony is hard to hear. Only fifths and octaves can survive the extreme ranges of our hearing. In song writing you want to find a comfortable middle. Your typical melodic instruments have very solid middle. The human voice, alto saxophone, trumpet, guitar, a few others.
