How would you write the ATLA sequel?

Just pretend Korra never existed.

A main character who isn't spoiled or bratty

But I like Korra.

Impossible, coming from a Zig Forums user.

Basically Korra but no Book 4

I'm keeping Tenzin

Restart the plot of the Avatar randomly disappearing again except this time it's because of death by mysterious causes.
Make Korra a Swamp bender
More focus on the struggle between modernity and spirit conflict.

You're keeping book 2?

this is the interesting part

just season 3 then

I'd just rewrite it with a proper focus. The main issue with LoK, is that each Book was written in isolation of itself. So giving it a proper overarching plot would greatly improve it.

First thing I'd do is relegate the bothers to side character status. Increase the focus on Asami and Kuvira. Actually highlight the fact that Kuvira is Korra's mirror and build a begrudging respect and friendship that always clashes on ideologies. Scrap almost everything from Book 2 apart from Wan and Korra's breakdown with her place in the world being largely meaningless. Keep remnants of the Equalists around till the Red Lotus make their move, and getting rid of all the mecha shit. The tech jump in that show was ridiculous.

And finally. Most importantly. Get the fuck out of Republic City. That shithole is the main reason Korra has so many issues, in-universe and out. The other being the White Lotus. As they trained a weapon, not an Avatar. She really needed to learn the rest of the world still respected her position.

Make an Avatar that solves conflicts between the spirit and physical world
That was their actual Job, wasn't it? More things like when Aang put the appeased the Panda spirit.

A fire bender Avatar everyone expects to evil

Too many letters.

SOZIN WAS RIGHT

>Korra discovers she is the Avatar by herself and knows how to bend 3 elements by the age of 4
Tossed out. Avatars are not told they are one until 16, and they don't randomly start bending other elements unless pushed into the Avatar State.
I would probably have Korra discover she is the Avatar in this manner, through a traumatic event in her early childhood. I dunno, a hunting accident, or getting trapped under a frozen sea when the tide is coming in.
>Korra is the niece of the Northern Tribe Chief and daughter of the Southern Tribe Chief (who would have been Chief of the North)
Tossed out. Korra being essentially royalty on top of the Avatar is too much. It is also weird as at first it looks like her parents are impoverished, when the Southern Tribe has recovered and modernized. Basically I like peasant girl Korra better, and it helps her come across as less biased.
>Korra has an animal spirit guide who she constantly abandons and doesn't do any spirit guiding
I'd embrace the cumbersomeness and just give her a massive fucking orca whale animal hybrid sea-monster as a spirit guide. And I'd devote at least two episodes to befriending it. Something stupidly strong that can only show up in large bodies of water, when it feels like it, but connects to her in the spirit world so she can fly around on it.

Anyway, now that these establishing traits are fixed, I throw out the entire show and come up with something different. I might use aged down, less extreme versions of the Red Lotus as her new team Avatar, at least Zaheer and P'li.

Havent watched Korra in ages so this is by no means complete but end of season 1 Aang does not magically show up and restore her bending. Instead, text would actually focus on developing Korras spirituality and addressing the nonbenders plot. During this time she can also bond with Asami as a nonbender. I imagine Korra might "dissappear" from public eye, either travelling out of republic city or giving herself a new identity because of the shame of being a nonbending avatar. I know it might be a tough sell (a nonbending avatar??) but i hate the way the nonbender and spirituality plots werent dealt with. Whatever she encounters during this time actually helps her later on, as a person and as a bender.

Also scrapping the entire "airbenders are magically born again" that was stupid. Also scrapping the giant robot. Aang was a decent father so help me and Toph gets to kick ass OR we avoid Toph/Zuko altogether leaving Atla intact.

Aang and Toph being shit parents makes sense though. They're both perpetual children.

>Use Shanghai NOT New York as model to Republic City

Go into the Far Future as the Air Conglomerate Space Colony is having trouble with an invasion of angered spirits, noone knows why this is happening so it's up to Non-Bender Detective and his Elderly Avatar Friend to stop it.

just make Amon an actual energy bender and have the equalists be the villains for the whole series

>Policenauts but in the Avatar Universe

Somewhat the same except no spirit world bullshit, no mecha ass-pulls, no harmony spirit vs chaos spirit bulldroppings, and make the red lotus less gay and unrealistic. I'll let Korra keep Asami because I like the porn.

Literally the Chinese civil war but with traditionalist along with the commies and nationalists.

What if is some kind of Boxer Rebelion?
And the others nations act like the west in the last days of the chinese empire

Remove season 2, remove asami from korras team avatar, replace her with an actually interesting character, maybe jinora. Develop team avatar way more. If you want to make korra gay do it from the start instead of the last 4 minutes of your show. No love triangles. Build up kuvira more, she comes of as a random fucking palace guard and we’re supposed to believe she can btfo the avatar? Remove the metal bending nation, it’s dumb as fuck. Make lightning bending hard to do instead of something random dudes can do to charge generators for work.

Equally based idea, honestly I could see that being the season one plot, with kuvira and as Amon building threats after the collapse of the earth kingdom into a fragile democracy

I hate this new attitude of
>IF I DONT LIKE IT IT'S NOT CANON

Hahaha holy shit I can't believe people like you exist. You realize "canon" is as real as the value of dollar bills, right? It only has as much worth as fans give it. The original creators don't have a monopoly on their creation. Nothing can stop fans from making fanfiction.

Who said anything about fanfiction?

Be careful the jannies will ban you for mentioning it
