See, the problem isn't your average Joe not believing it, it's the local government enforcing these things because THEY believe in it.
They already made it through with the push for masks that do absolutely nothing, and now they're trying to push goggles. They'll just keep trying and trying because the excuse of a virus is enough.

That being said you are completely right in that we should have just ignored this. It only kills those who are either weak as shit anyways or old as shit. And personally I can't believe any virus that can leave a person completely and utterly unaffected by it being the cause of a Pandemic.

Covid is on track to be the third largest killer behind heart disease and diabetes this year.

It'll hopefully draw a lot more entertainment companies to greenlight animated series, since all of the work can be done remotely. Comics should be just fine, but with Diamond all fucked up and the entire american comics industry relying on in-person floppy sales that'll probably divebomb into cancellation.

Yeah it's wild that a country with unparalleled surveillance tools and a ruthless internal security apparatus managed to contain something mostly spread socially.

I'm also stunned that a country that managed to turn a genocide into a quiet affair is able to control the dissemination of inside information to the outside world.

If this virus was a conspiracy I'd imagine the government or whatever power understating the lethality of it in an attempt to get people infected as a form of population control or baiting people on the right,knowing they'll do the opposite of they say,to go out and get it. Comics will finally embrace the digital format and offer comics at a lower cost since they're saving money on production and not sharing revenue with comic shops. DC's already way ahead on this and it's only a matter of time before Marvel follows.
