Matthew Vaughn's original plans for the X-MEN film series

>"My plan was FIRST CLASS, then the second film in the 70's with the X-Men trying to prevent the JFK assassination, introducing Polaris and a new young Wolverine and fleshing out the old characters, Havok, Banshee, Beast. So you’d really get to know all of them, and my finale was gonna be DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. That was gonna be my number three where you bring them all in. Because what’s bigger than bringing in McKellen and Michael and Stewart and James and bringing them all together? When I finished the DAYS OF FUTURE PAST script with it ready to go I looked at it and said, "I really think it would be fun to cast Tom Hardy or someone as the young Wolverine and then bring it all together at the end." Fox read DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and went "Oh, this is too good! We’re doing it now!" And I said, "Well what do you do next? Trust me you’ve got nowhere to go." Then they did APOCALYPSE and it’s like... If you flip that around even it would have been better. Hollywood doesn’t understand pacing. Their executives are driving 100 miles-per-hour looking in the rear-view mirror and not understanding why they crash."

But Jackman had already appeared in First Class.

Yeah, I'm not really getting that one either

probably wouldve been from before that point

What was JFKs mutant power?

I liked Apocalypse, but Days of Future Past was great.

>X-Men 1
>X-Men 2
>X-Men 3
>Wolverine
>X-Men: First Class
>Deadpool
>X-Men: Days of Future Past
>Logan
>X-Men: Apocalypse
>Deadpool 2
>X-Men: Pheonix? Fuck if I know

Something like what Purple Man has.

Who was the actress who played Polaris in the Gifted?

>I liked Apocalypse

First time I've ever seen anyone say anything good about this absolutely awful movie.

Supposedly Dark Phoenix was even worse, but I haven't watched it so can't confirm.

Dark Phoenix has some dodgy CGI and Sophie Turner can't act to save her life, but it was better than Apocalypse.

After Apocalypse I vowed I wouldn't waste any more hours of my life watching more of this shit. Should I renege on that now? Options to do anything are more limited these days anyway, free time doesn't have such a premium on it.

Like, it's fine in a generic mid-'00s kind of way but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to watch it.

First class is the best xmen movie

No argument from me.

I'm starting to actually have some hopes for New Mutants, which is a horrible feeling; like returning to someone who's already broken your bones and given you black eyes.

AoA was cheesy as fuck. Also Olivia Munn just plain sucks.

Apocalypse was awful on every level, but its biggest sin was how it never felt epic or as big in scope as it should have. Apocalypse is a two legged event, a force so massive that everyone has to stand together human and mutant. He should feel like the end of everything when he shows up, but instead he had zero screen presence.

Yeah, Sophie’s a child actor that really lucked out

How do you feel about Apocalypse on Hickman X-Men being friends with the X-Men and partaking on mutant orgies?

>Reading Hickman

Kinda liked the dark Phoenix movie. It was better than AoA at the very least

Xavier was really good, props to McAvoy for not giving up like everyone else. Well, maybe Fassbender too, but Magneto was a more purely action-oriented part in this one. It sucks though that the new kids never got their time to shine. I thought the new Cyclops was quite good in Apocalypse and was looking forward to the new Storm having an actual material to work with, but then they might as well not be in DP at all.

I liked apocalypse

you should lurk moar then

Apocalypse was better, no contest. Dark Phoenix feels like The Last Stand 2

Hickman is incredible when he isn't writing X-Men.

> Tom Hardy

no, really not worth it

I love the X-Men franchise but Apocalypse was rather mediocre. I'd say Dark Phoenix is a better movie because it's pretty small-scale and focuses on certain characters while offering an okayish alien invasion story. Apocalypse had a great opening sequence but afterwards really didn't know what to do with the characters. Huge waste of Apocalypse

When's New Mutants coming out?

Never

He was orange
