What's wrong with it? I have no interest in the game but why couldn't it make a good cartoon or comic?

It’s the “League of Legends bad” meme. Say what you will about the game but the lore is better than it has any right to be for a MOBA.

Dota's lore has been incoherent for almost a decade.

I don't see the downside here. The little cinematic shorts are already the best part of LoL anyway. The game itself is cancer, but it's got a lot of neat lore and characters to work with. So with a halfway decent writing team (they've already got an animation team that's better than 99% of Western cartoons) they could make a really cool show.

It failed at being a game so now it is trying to become another thing.

They've retconned it repeatedly, and subsequently made it worse each time nearly consistently. It doesn't help they essentially do it on a character by character basis. Just look at Jax;

It's a franchise built on referencing little details from a game that's not terribly fun and generally lacks creativity. The comics will suck for the same reason runeterra sucks: it won't be able to become it's own thing and its entire purpose will be to cross promote products. It's another step beyond a shallow licensed cash grab. The best it could end up as is mediocre.

Honestly I dont really care. The game is hot garbage but the lore is pretty okay. It's just a bunch of /tg/ tropes that doesnt carry over to the actual game usually
Except for Burning Tides. Fuckin loved that shit.
It reads like some dudes DnD campaign that he keeps jumping the fuck around in and cant close out a storyline.
But you kinda get that with how many characters they try to give stories too.

A huge issue I have with the lore though is the MULTIPLE world ending shit they keep introducing but going nowhere with, instead preferring fan wank with popular characters.
