Avatar the Last Airbender Netflix

One of the best things about ATLA was that is was all POC. There were no white people in it at all.

It's pretty cool how the best cartoon of all time has not white people in it. But that begs the question if the movie is going to make sure they cast no white people? I would be pretty frustrated as there are canonically no white people in the Avatar universe (No the swamp benders are Vietnamese look it up)

Cartoons have been 90% white for ever. It's really nice for POC to be represented on their own with no white people in it

They should definitely stick to the shows cultures and races. There are tons of shows out there with all white characters and finally a show with good representation should not be changed. White people have enough representation already.

I don't hate white people. I'm proud of ATLA Poc representation and don't want the netflix version to be whitewashed with any white people in it. Especially when the cartoon is all POC

I don't give a shit about that I was more talking about the fact that he called it the best cartoon of all time.

This. I would be disappointed if there were any white people in it. White people literally don't exist in the Avatar world.

What makes the water tribe specifically Sereniki eskimo, rather than any of the other peoples in that area?

A few cultural ties I think

...Like?

fine if there are no white there are no blacks

>I'm not racist. See how I think a show is good based only on how it is completely excluded of other races
You're a racist OP. And the worst kind of racist to boot; The kind that think they Aren't.
The best parts of ATLA? Maybe the writing? How it didn't try to shove PC bullshit from that day and age, and just wanted to be a cartoon?
Think anybody who Actually cares about the show gave a shit about if the cast was white or not?

Ancient airbenders were blackmen

I’m talking about casting. The Netflix adaptation should only be POC because the cartoon itself has only POC characters

Yeah a lot of people cared, if you're not aware it's hard to find good representation of poc, and they were just saying that they should stick to the show. Why are you so uptight about people not wanting to see white people in a show?

They're going to cast african-americans and ignore the reeeing from neckbeards and the one or two actual asians who know and care.

Well yeah. The entire setting is based on east Asian regions.
There's also no black, middle eastern or American native people.

Executives will meddle to put their neices and nephews and freonds in the show

based

>Indian
Guru patik
>Native American
Water tribes and sun warriors
>Black
Some black characters in korra

>Middle Eastern
Sandbenders

>some black characters in Korra
Who?

They even tried to sneak some hijab wearing arabs in the background of the Korra comics.

Consistency clearly isn't important. What's important is that there are no white people.

Can’t remember but he’s not a main character

Most of the rioters in the comics were black.
Not sure about the show tho.

There are also no Africans but they’ll probably try to justify it.

There's one in the Serpent's Pass episode, maybe.

>no white people
>literal hicks as swamp benders
>who specialise in summoning vine Kaijus

Does anyone on this board even watch cartoons?

They weren’t white though

>"coded"

They should say Caucasian people aren't in it. "White skin" isn't something unique to that group. In fact, the East Asians are the only ones outside of Caucasians to have "white skin" among them.

>find strange new animal
>immediately think about ways to eat it
>get into a fight with some tourists over it

The only thing that can make this scream more Dixie is if they went into a speech about how "Avatar Lin Kon was an oppressor".

Sounds more like your average rural Chinese person.

>PC bullshit

If it came out today, retards would be making constant threads about how Aang's a simp, Katara is a girl power Mary Sue, Sokka is the writers 'belittling men', etc.

The more things change, they more they stay the same, huh. I'm still going with white, considering the airboat waterbending.

It's weird, with the big fuss about how minority characters should only be voiced by minorities, I've heard no stink raised whatsoever about the ethnic makeup of Avatar's cast

I agree that they should cast asians, but you really can’t get upset with them for trying to do things like cast Scarlett Johansson in Ghost in the Shell. They want to give you your dumb weeb movie, but they can’t get burned for tens of millions of dollars while doing it, so they need to cast someone the average person recognizes and likes
