Redpill me on Voltron. I want to watch more western cartoons, I enjoyed ATLA and TLOK so far, is Voltron worth watching if I liked those? Are the comics any good to read too?
Voltron
Watch it, ignore everyone telling you otherwise
Starts off good but about post Mall episode it goes to shit
It's not worth your time. It leaves you feeling unsatisfied at the end. The big bad basically gets away with everything
You mean the bad guys win? That's not very common in stories so it's pretty refreshing when that happens.
Not really, it’s more or less they are left largely blameless for their actions of mass genocide
>Redpill me on Voltron.
user, as someone that initially enjoyed it, Voltron is widely acknowledged on Zig Forums as having very likely the worst ending of any Western show to get an ending. They cratered this series. Watch She-Ra instead. Not flawless, but it managed to end without shitting the bed.
Watch up until Shiro disappears and just stop. That's the point where the writers ran out of ideas. They floundered with multiple status quo changes that flip-flopped back to normal, then they resorted to filler and eventually gay pandering. It was a show kept alive entirely by shippers.
Doesn't She-Ra also have a recent remake of the show on Netflix or was that a continuation?
>Watch She-Ra instead.
"No."
>but it managed to end without shitting the bed.
>Girl who burned villages and killed people personally is forgiven for saying sorry once and dates the hero she abused and tried to murder multiple times
Please OP don’t watch that show unless you want to be fully turned against western animation
do writers actually run out of ideas when creating a show? i get that voltron isn't one of those on-going cartoon flagship shows like spongebob where writers will make shit up since there is no cohesive plot, but for any other show the story should be planned from the very beginning before working on it. not knowing what to write next seems really risky since they're usually obliged to follow a schedule
Very loose remake.
>bad incest
No
Just watch the anime.
Bad guy commits genocide and gets everything they want in the end with somehow forgiveness from the team even as bad guy's actions literally and unobjectively cause one of the team to fucking kermit to undo the actions
She-Ra's a good suggestion. I'd nominate Infinity Train as another good recent show to get into. The first season is self-contained and the second season stars a character that was briefly introduced in the first and wraps her story up by the end. Even if they fuck up season three somehow that shouldn't retroactively ruin the first two seasons because those two stories are Done.
There's a couple good moments in Voltron early on but it's true that they just completely went off the rails. Nobody was happy with the ending, pretty much killed the fandom overnight.
They threw away the show Bible and just completely spun out. The ending is so hated that they killed any option of actually selling merch. Everyone fucking hated the show and how much time they put into it
Stop trying to trick people with taste into watching your shitty show
>do writers actually run out of ideas when creating a show?
Yes, just look at Korra. They wrote what was supposed to be a one-season miniseries, but they were given another season, and another season, and another season, with no actual plan in mind. The Voltron team had a plan to kill Shiro, but then they were told by the producers to bring Shiro back, so they had to write around that. At the end, they claimed it was their plan all along to make Shiro a faggot, but how could that be true if he was supposed to be dead ?
Voltron is inexcusable because they were literally told exactly how many eps they'd have when they were given the contract (Netflix pretended to be "renewing" it for drama, but the fact that they'd actually been given the exact number on day one was the worst kept secret in animation).
According to interview they planned who their villain would be for the first third, and who would be the villain for the second third, then figured they'd come up with something good for the final third. They did not, and instead you were left with a shitload of hanging threads that went fucking nowhere or were tied up as sloppily as humanly possible. Inexcusable.
Just watch Primal
I hate that one of our top recommendations is that show which shows up once in a blue moon and only has six eps to its name so far.
Not saying it's not excellent, just... six? Goddamn.
This was a hard lesson people had to learn that just because it's produced by Studio Mir doesn't mean it's going to be good.
Watch up to the Paternity Arc where Pidge tries to find who's the father of her child.
It's her brother.
Pidge and Hunk were the only characters I still liked at the end and Hunk didn't even have a fucking arc. He was literally the same dude in the first and final episode, just a nice dude that hung around for the ride.
>give Matt a gf and a bad haircut
They truly shit on ALL the shippers
Quality over quantity
Amazing. A few years ago Voltron threads hit 500 with ease. After the final ep (just in 2018) you struggle to get even a dozen replies from a simple "hey should I watch it?" thread.
I think it might be the most thorough annihilation of a fandom we've seen with any Zig Forums show.
That's what happens when finale is bad.
The first 2-3 seasons are good, then it tragically falls apart. I can't recommend starting it.
Drop it after Pidge finds her brother and make up an ending in your own head. It'll be better than what we got. It couldn't possibly be worse.
