Soldier's VA already had throat cancer once by the time the short came out and was basically retired. That's why the last few lines he ever recorded for Soldier had no yelling or screaming and such, because he couldn't do it anymore without destroying his throat. That's why the new lines he had in the short were only low volume speaking lines.
Sadly now he's gone because of corona so it's going to be hard to ever get a TV series.

Would they dare to kill off Soldier in the final comic? Maybe he sacrifices himself to defeat the big bad? I could imagine him saying goodbye to Zhanha and the team before rocket jumping up to deliver the market garden that pierces the heavens.
