I liked it back then, but it's way too cruel and sadistic to be funny. There are barely any likable characters on the show, and the few they have are treated like shit byt the unlikable characters.

It's universally agreed upon that Family Guy has legitimately improved over the last few years. They now have more interesting plots, less reliance on gore/shock humor and has actual character development.
2010-2015 were the worst years for the show since they had too much shock humor like the infamous whale scene and some of the worst episodes to date like Brenda Q, Seahorse Seashell Party, Life of Brian, Brian is a Bad Father, Brian gives Stewie herpes and Stewie becomes pregnant.

Most of that picture isn't that bad. Oh no they found a leg in the forest. Oh no a girl suffocated in a car.
Even reading through that image the stage play about the guy getting his thumbs cut off made me laugh.
But I do enjoy that delicious conspiracy pasta. It's otherwise hard to explain some of their decisions like the whale scene or the police dog scene. I never thought Peter getting smashed between two tree trunks looked all that bad. Most of the gore is too cartoony to be disturbing.
In fact, I'd love to see more gore creep in next season just to stick it to Disnet and make it difficult for channels to syndicate it in the future.
