>How does this work?

>It works like a community toy chest. In the /coc/ threads you are free to post whatever ideas/settings/characters you want, but you have to be OK with other people playing with them (tweaking them, putting them in stories, using them for things, etc.)
>There's no guarantee that what you post will catch on either.

>If the OC you are posting is YOURS for something you are personally doing, then it would go to the "How is your webcomic?" threads.
>If you just want feedback on an OC of yours, then it would go in the "donut steel" threads or drawthreads.

Last thread did a good job.

Did magi ever draw Zig Forumslette or j/aco/lyn?

He's drawn Zig Forumslette many times before. Not sure about J/aco/lyn.

I'd like that

I was thinking about getting some images for GG, anyone have any suggestions? Simples ones please.

Sitting at a work bench, building gadgets. Needing to really lean into it so her boobs aren't getting in the way of seeing what she is doing.

Depends on who you're getting them from. Not that I necessarily believe you.

J/aco/lyn would be nice to see.

Is anyone else having problems with desu?

The search feature is currently broken.
It's been that way for days now.

Niceu

So there was a lot of talk about Rocker Billy and his trajectory as a character, but the Roller Betty talk kinda dropped so I wanted to bring up some suggestions.

My idea is that Betty is a girl from the rough side of town. She doesn't go to the same school as Audrey or Billy but is constantly skipping and going anywhere but her home or her school. Her father ran out on her as a kid and her mom isn't fit to take care of her (because she's an alcoholic, generally juvenile, and incredibly lazy) so she takes care of herself with her job at the diner and has some sort of attachment issues because of the neglect that plagued her childhood.
Betty, despite her horrible attitude, is a hard worker. She will work double overtime in a heartbeat and takes her job very seriously even if she does grumble internally about it every step of the way. Working at a diner for what even back then isn't much isn't enough to take care of all her bills and her freeloading mother, which fosters a sense of resentment in her for even having to work this hard to start with. She never says it though.
While it would normally be fitting for this sort of character, I don't see Betty as a hustling type. Even though she grew up on the streets, she has spent most of her time trying her best to work an honest job and has lived a relatively straight edge life. It's never occurred to her that a life of crime was even something she could do, and in sense, she has this sort of naivety to her character.
That is until she starts to hear about Billy.

I can imagine her hearing about Rocker Billy from some folks in the diner one day, thinking he was super cool and slowly becoming a stan for him. Maybe one day she as a chance encounter and is completely enraptured by his devil-may-care attitude and the way he gyrates his hips.
And that's when it starts.
Rocker Billy isn't just a cute boy to her, he's a representation of a brand new way of life. Billy uncorks all the resentment and frustration that was bubbling underneath the surface and she starts doing petty crimes (very small ones at first, like stealing a lipstick or something silly) of her own and gets a taste for the thrill of it. She comes to see that doing crimes pays a lot more than her normal job and thinks to subsidize her income a bit with her new hobby. One day she bites off way more than she can chew but is saved by Rocker Billy.
I can imagine Roller Betty's infatuation turning into full-on obsession as it dawns on her that Rocker Billy is a real boy that she could actually get her hands on, rather than a far off celebrity a simple teen like her could never grasp, so she starts really putting the stalker in stalker fan. Much like how Isis is always trying to find proof that Audrey is Golden Girl, Betty is on her own obsessive hunt to get to know more about Billy. Unlike Isis though, there's no magic universal code preventing her from finding out Billy's identity, and so she eventually does.
Betty finds herself conflicted at the idea that Rocker Billy is just some suburban loner kid, but soon starts to fall for the normal Billy to a lesser extent and suggests that they team up. Billy is hesitant at first, but seeing the girl is clearly in need of some sort of emotional support and the demonic influence wanting to further corrupt Betty, he decides to let the girl tag along with him.

So now Betty is officially Roller Betty, and she and Billy are not so officially a power couple. Betty and Billy's relationship is weird. Billy on the one hand loves seeing Betty have a good time and will go out of his way to do more dangerous and risky jobs to give her the rush she craves. She gives him even more of an excuse to cut loose and be on his worst behavior, when before he'd make a point not to cause too much trouble. He does not consider himself her boyfriend however, no matter how much Betty throws herself at him. He doesn't even like talking to her while he's at school because of course, a strange girl hanging out during school hours at a school that isn't hers is super suspicious. This frustrates Betty to no end, she is, after all, a stalker fan, and with tramps like Audrey, Katya, and Golden Girl out there ready to steal the only person that's ever made her happy from her, how can she stay away from her Billy Willy's side? This isn't the only thing that frustrates her though. Betty's years on her roller skates have made her quite agile but unlike Billy, she doesn't really have any powers or identity of her own. She tries to make up for this with bravado, being Billy's cheerleader, pushing him to be better and badder for her sake and supporting him in all his endeavors, even if most of the plans are her own, but deep down she knows that she's holding Billy back, and it pisses her off to no end. Along with her desire to have Billy all to herself, and her desire for the power to both help him and keep him all to herself, she begins to draw the attention of the demonic more and more. This can lead nicely into the Succubus idea that was presented the other day. Maybe as Billy gets more power she finds a way to finally match him. And maybe as Billy starts to turn away from a life of crime, Betty starts to surpass him, all of her unresolved negative feelings making her a way better host than Billy ever was.

What do you guys think?

Not that user, but I had a funny idea for this and wanted to sketch it out

Audrey is such an inspiring figure.

An icon to girls everywhere.

I think you've vastly overthought this. The point to Betty, as I recall, is that she's a foil to Billy by being every bit the psychotic delinquent he isn't, the sort of one-dimensional irredeemable hood the Comics Code specified criminals should always be.

Yes, by modern standards that's a very nice backstory, BUT she's not code immune like Billy is, she's still subject to it which means she can't have a sympathetic backstory, not until the Bullion era anyway.
So all of that doesn't actually fit during the Golden Girl era.

The only way any of that would be useful or even be able to be revealed at all is during the Bullion era after she goes missing and someone finally asks Billy what the deal is about Betty.

As all good heroes should be.

Valid.
I was going for the caricature of the "normal girl seduced by the evils of devil music", sort of thing, but if it's too much then, I guess it's too much.
I just saw people complaining about how there wasn't much to her character so I wanted to provide something for the record. Something to keep in mind going forward, even if most of it is unusable.

Yeah, GG is sort of tricky I guess at times to fit things into.
None of what you came up with is bad, it just can't fit because of all the restraints around the first era.

Now like what I said before with the Bullion era, it can fit there. It really depends on how all of that works and plays out with the overarching plot. We know Bullion, Billy, Iris and Olympus team up to find the missing people since they still remember them. If remembering someone makes them relocatable, then Billy having to reveal those details then serves a purpose.
But during the GG newspaper/backup comic strips era, she's just some random bad girl who hangs around with Billy with little to no explanation.

I think it's pretty solid backstory, but most of this won't be seen or touched on until Bullion era. As far as the Golden Girl audience is concerned the only parts to Roller Betty they should see is the extremely obsessive aggressive unrepentant criminal stalker fan. The details and the whys should be kept under wraps until she's gone.

Yeah, that's fair.
I honestly wasn't really expecting much of what I wrote to actually appear in the comics. We can't have villain arcs in a code regulated comic, that would be crazy! I just wanted her to have a bit more depth, help figure out why she is the way she is for when or if the time came people wanted to flesh her.

I do find the backstory interesting and endearing, though I do like her as a more corruptive influence on Billy than a literal demon is.
