What are the worst attempts at synergy in comics?

Black Nick Fury

you posted it

That now Iron Man can only be like the RDJ's version in the comics

Not really synergy but movie to comic.

so from 6'1 to 5'9, feels bad to be a manlet stark

Black 616 Nick was so stupidly hamfisted

Oh yeah, how does that work? Did Ultimate Nick get transported over to the main universe or something?

Nick was already black in Ultimate. And paradoxically inspired by Samuel L Jackson

they made him the son of the original Nick Fury meaning a black queen got bleached.

Not really paradoxical

You could tell that was their attempt to pitch the comics to live action media.

Nick Fury fucked Amanda Waller but they don’t mention it because she’s from DC comics

We don't talk about this. Can't believe such an obscure Firestorm character overstayed their welcome like this. Ironically, despite ARROW being complete dogshit, adding John Diggle to Green Arrow's cast as a bodyguard "Alfred" type was actually good synergy.

My contribution of bad synergy is pic related. I miss old Star-Lord

Cartoonfag here, what was Starlord like pre-MCU?

Hostess Fruit Pies

>You could tell that was their attempt to pitch the comics to live action media
Ultimate Nick Fury predates the movie version by almost a decade, you dumb fuck.

Like this

It was fine in Ultimate, him replacing the 616 version who was an established character for decades was the problem.

he was a serious cop.
He didn't crack up jokes like a retarded and was all for getting the job done for money, he didn't thought at the squad as a faily but his team mates that he was forced to work with

Not him, but what does that have to do with what he said? It's absolutely obvious that Millar wrote The Ultimates to be easily adaptable into a movie. It has Freddie Prinze Jr in it, for fuck's sake.

This was so bad, after this issue everybody pretended it didn't happen and just kept using normal blue-skinned Mystique.

>Can't believe such an obscure Firestorm character overstayed their welcome like this.

Ew.

I can't decide if this was good or bad synergy.

The Freddy Prinze Jr. thing was a joke, user

Almost all of Millar's works kinda read like movie pitches.

You weren't supposed to point that out...

Definitely all he ever does these days.

I enjoyed how Kirkman made a big deal of teasing Darryl as an addition to the Walking Dead, but didn't actually ever do it

Why the FUCK would you read that crap when you could just watch the movie or read the original Infinity Gauntlet arc

For real. Motherfucker co-published a book with Netflix, like Jesus Christ

it sucks because I actually do enjoy some of his early work

Cyborg now being put into everything. What a fucking boring character.

It's not for comic fans. It's an on-ramp for movie fans to try and turn them into comic fans

This is kind of basic and boring to be honest, mask is cool, but the rest is a big improvement. This makes him look like henchmen #63

Then why Ultimates has Hulk eating people and implying he wants to rape Betty Rose? The domestic violence and the gay butler? And the pro W Bush jingoism shit. Who the hell pitches a blockbuster movie like that?

It's because it's not a movie pitch. Millar didn't start doing that until he began doing creator-owned books full time.

I wonder how many people start reading the comics after watching those MCU movies. I started reading some marvel stuff after watching the first Iron Man, and I found it kinda weird at first

He didn't care about money. Where did you get that from? His time with the Guardian's before the film was motivated by trying desperately to keep the galaxy from falling even further apart after the Annihilation Wave. Profit was not a motive at all.

Mark Millar does. All his most extreme edgelord shit gets filtered out by scriptwriters; look at Kick-Ass.

Is that really synergy? Teen Titans did admittedly give him some press. However I should also mention they've dialed back on him a lot as of late
Your taste is fucking shit, user. Fuck your dime a dozen trench coat Han Solo

This looks terrible even in the films.

Agreed on comic Diggle. He us a fun character and I liked him a lot during the Percy run. A tough soldier-like character is a nice contrast with a more emotional Ollie. I hope they keep him in future Green Arrow books

From what I recall, this wasn't actually bad synergy. But in retrospect it's akin to Jared becoming DCU canon thanks to that tie-in comic.

It was jarring to see him on the JL roster in the Johns GL 80 years story. Yeah he added him to the team, but that always seemed mandated.

Kingsmen actually added more edge than the original comic

This was pretty good, but she was weirdly like Jimmy's own personal Lois.

I think a different story covering Superman's origin had a brief nod to her being a kid in Smallville high with him, but nothing more than a passing reference.

I did not know that Chloe ever made it into a non-smallville book. Hilarious in retrospect
