If it was a story about a person who just so happened to be gay that's fine but again they are co-opting already established and loved franchises because only gays think their sexuality is the same thing as having an actual personality.

It's a form of advertising. Add some last-minute gays and it instantly generates some feel-good publicity. People will now watch your show/series to reinforce how good and accepting they are. Maybe you'll even qualify for some GLAAD awards. People will sing your shows praises for inclusivity, even if the actual gay content is kinda vague in the actual canon and mostly evident online.

Think of it like the wheelchair kid in 80's/90's cartoons. How many kids in wheelchairs do you see in animation today? Do you think any of those wheelchair characters expanded accessibility or helped people with disabilities face less bigotry? Just think of it as another fad that comes and goes in children's animation.

I ask this same question whenever I see the updated "handicap accessible" logos these days. In case anyone else doesn't know, the classic figure on a wheelchair logo for handicap signs was redesigned into a figure on a wheelchair GOING SUPER FFAST. I wonder how many millions of tax dollars was spent to replace all the old logos so that wheelchair users might potentially, possibly, maybe feel good looking at them.

I appreciate this point of view, but you have to admit based on everything we've seen on this board it's being pushed way harder, and there actually is backlash when someone doesn't approve. I think it's mainly just a power grab.

I never said they couldn't be useful, but I think the cult like phenomenon of children announcing themselves gay and trans in the last couple of decades is a sign gays spreading their ideology like this instead of organically (because nobody would read their gay comics) is a bad thing for society.
