When virtually every spiderman game has been multiplay EVEN THE ADAPTATIONS OF SONY MOVIES. I don’t think Sony has direct control over the comics. But it would shock me if they talk to the writers.

It could be that, or it could simply be that she misheard something, or that something which is a "well known fact" was told to her but the people who actually work on it within Marvel Comics don't know it's a "well known fact" because it isn't true and they never get asked about it because "people don't talk about it".

It would certainly be laboriously difficult for Sony to direct several comic book titles on a day to day production basis. That's a full time job just keeping an eye on it, never mind communicating with all the people at Sony and getting their notes.

Sony would have had to trademark it and I don't think they did. Marvel just prefers spider-man to be on-brand and on-model for the most part since he's the only character they have as iconic as batman or superman.

Complete bullshit. Sony owns the Film rights and previously the television rights. Disney/Marvel have complete control over comic books. Two separate divisions.

The only way I can see this being the case is if some dumb disconnected executives at the top for both Marvel and Sony set up a system like that so comic book storylines don't hurt the film's profit.
