Fun fact: the Canon novel "Dooku: Jedi Lost" recanonizes the scene, but recontextualizes it so this dialog never takes place, instead having Ventress lashing out at Dooku for killing the man in charge of the arena.
At this point, I have come to believe every single good thing about Star Wars, even to the tinniest detail, is doomed to be ruined one way or another, either because its current higher ups are too stupid to be aware of any ounce of nuance the old canon ever had, or because we have become too dependant on "subverting expectations" for writing to appear inventive.
