Definitely less offensive, that’s for sure.

Because in the mind of the producers, they needed to fill the movie with celebrity voice actors, but Spongebob voices are so ingrain in pop culture now they couldn't just replace the leads and had to create a bunch of movie original characters to be voiced by the celebrities.

Ehhh his role as Sage wasn't too bad, he did serve as more of a reason to keep Spongebob and Patrick focused which had the benefit of forcing the plot to stay on track even if the entire side issue with the coin and the ghosts wasn't needed.

All in all the movie got a few chuckles out of me, some comments where I didn't much care for it.

But ultimately it was like watching a decent if long spongebob episode that looked kind of different.

If you need to kill 90 minutes there are worse ways that giving this a watch.

It just kept getting worse and worse and then finally they reveal that the entire movie was just an ad for the new Camp Coral TV show, absolute cringe, 2/10.

To be fair, they make a joke out of it (the sage sage) and his character has a purpose which is to keep Spongebob and Patrick focused while teaching children that gambling is bad or something.

The celebrity cameos in spongebob movies feel fun and innocent like muppet movie celebrities. It feels very similar of just "Sure, why not? It's funny."

Seriously, that 'dream' bit had more heart and originality than the rest of the movie. I stand by that statement.
