Frozen

Dangerous Secrets was released last week, have you read it yet? They seem to be trying hard to drag Iduna's character out of the mud after Frozen 2 accidentally made her look like a terrible mother/wife, did they succeed? I think that they did the best job they could have in explaining away why she didn't reveal who she was even after marrying Agnarr, and even to a certain extent after the accident with Elsa's powers, while still acknowledging that it was a messed up situation and she isn't blameless. It was obvious they were trying to shift as much blame off of her as possible with how much ended up being down to Peterssen, but I guess there wasn't much choice left to them after the movie basically made her a villain out of her. I liked her and Agnarr's relationship more than I thought I would as well.

Nice review, I might read it then. I'm especially interested in why Iduna kept her origins secret.
Did she reveal it at least to Agnarr at some point?

Nigga even my kids think she's worse than Gothel

Finished it Monday. Might be my favorite Frozen book yet. Very good. Made the parents much more sympathetic. Still doesn't excuse their poor parenting skills, but at least now you have a plausible explanation for it.

Also: Elsa is perfect

A bit too late, but here you go.

I liked how they blamed the Northuldra from everything from loose roof shingles to stomachaches. They really were (and still are?) a hated boogeyman and enemy of the state. Queen Anna has a lot of work to do. This kind of suspicion isn’t fixed overnight by building a statue and declaring “we’re united now”.

How is it possible that Iduna sang a duet with Elsa?
I thought Iduna is dead.

Seek the truth!

Elsa entered a cave of memories that used her dead mother’s face to sing with her. It’s not even a ghost, just a recording.

It is pretty good. It reminded me of the better fanfiction. I was hoping there would be more info about Northuldra, but it's bare enough that lorefags like myself can keep dreaming.

>ice has memory
That seems like a fairly major difference

That was 30 or so years ago. Most people will remember that happened but also will see the events were caused by other peoples.

FUCK JEN LEE

Right now I'd rather seek some coffee

She is long dead, but Elsa used her new powers to "summon memories". It's not clear if it's just an echo of the past or actually communicating to her.

Heavily spoiler text if you haven't read the book, but it's been already more than a week

I enjoyed 4/5th's of the book. I cringed heavily with the trolls presence, hated the implication of a predestined setting and they knew pretty much the future (and did little to lessen the suffering) . Cringed at the fact what they did to Queen Rita as "She did anything wrong", that "it wasn't a selfish act but a selfless one" by running away and forgetting his son.

The Frozen 2 elements on later chapters didn't quite right fit into (The reindeer marriage proposal). It felt way better at earlier chapters.

The Vassar kingdom conspiracy plot felt out of nowhere, It would be better if it was introduced or mentioned on earlier chapters as soon as possible. It feels Johan's purpose on the story was just for a red herring.

The issue with Princess Runa's good will and virtue felt flat since we know little to nothing about her, it would've been great if she was introduced on earlier chapters, not in prescence, but perhaps Agnarr receiving letters here and there. There, her personality would've been explored. If it was an anime-like setting, the author would develop her well enough and people would claim her as the best girl while memeing "Who will win the Agnarr Bowl?" and "AgRuna best ship! Filthy Nortuldrans no need to apply" (Even some IduRuna shippers would pop-up). Being the underdog and the fact that at the end Agnarr would end up with Iduna, fans would still be liking her and feel sympathy for her loss, igniting more love for the character. It's not anime product, but it would've been interesting if some elements were introduced.

I heavily enjoyed Iduna dropping her spaghetti at the ball when AgRuna interaction was happening.Undoubtely my favorite part.

I liked the implication at the beggining that Northuldran people also died under the Spirits ethereal hands during the Battle of the Dam.

Great book for Frozen fans to read.

She does eventually, towards the very end. The author made sure to include lots of scenes where she thinks to herself that she should tell him the truth over the years, but is stopped by circumstances and Peterssen. They're actually fairly plausible and understandable reasons under the circumstances, up until the point where Elsa manifests her powers, at which point things are largely skimmed over until the accident.

>It was obvious they were trying to shift as much blame off of her as possible with how much ended up being down to Peterssen

I didn't felt it that way. "Conceal, Don't Feel" was a method that worked for Agnarr, Iduna and Peterssen. It was a disastrous move for Elsa.

They managed well the fact Iduna didn't connected Elsa's power with her Northuldran heritage, since there were no magicians there.

I'm not sure how I feel about Iduna's origins.
First of all, making her separated from her original family seems a bit too convenient. She's a double orphan. But it goes with the theme of isolation so I can let it slide.
Second... am I supposed to understand that the Northuldra we see in the movie actually wiped out Iduna's tribe? That she grew up among the people who exterminated everyone she loved, but chose to spare her life? Because that's pretty fucked up. I wonder how many people Yelena has killed. Maybe she even killed Iduna's parents personally.
I think this might be what inspired her to save her enemy (Agnarr) later. Now we know the same thing was done to her, earlier in life. But if saving your enemy is what causes the spirits to bless you with a magical child, then why didn't the person who saved her get a magical child of their own? Is it because an innocent child has to do it to gain the approval of the spirits?
I guess Iduna could have been found by a completely different group who came by after the invaders already left. But my first impression was "wow, Iduna's new family killed her old one". I hope I'm wrong.

>reading Zig Forums threads

I thought it might be another magical being that could've killed their og family

>the Northuldra are actually brutal conquerors who wipe out other tribes, kidnap their children, and assimilate them into their own "family"
Bros, I think they might be a bad influence on Elsa...

I meant how it was mostly down to Peterssen (especially after her and Agnarr got engaged) that she kept her origins from him and her daughters, rather than how they dealt with Elsa. Having her be deceitful for so long due to outside circumstances and someone else's instructions seems a lot better than her just never telling them for her own benefit even after what happened with Elsa and Anna.

That would be cool.

Ah I see.
Well, Mary had stated that her work is amongst other fanfics. I do like the Gold Digger Iduna version myself, just most for the keks, tho.

>the memory was misleading and the Northuldra actually struck first
>the mist wall was designed to trap the Northuldra all along
>now that they're free, the world is in danger from their army once more

Or a good influence.
Elsa should be a badass martial artist.

No, fuck off, that should be Anna’s thing
Elsa doesn’t get to be the flawless master of all things magical AND nonmagical
