It's ok but I don't like how it doesn't really feel like the show. Most of it doesn't take place in Bikini Bottom, Spongebob and Patrick are the only canon characters we see for the majority of it. Not to mention they made up a bunch of new characters that were obviously never going to appear again and tried to get us to care about them. Even the Goofy Goober is a completely new invention for the sake of the movie, even though I'm pretty sure the show already had a lot of silly stuff like that to pick as the symbol of innocence. I get the reasons why they're doing shit like this, I just don't like it. In this regard, while Sponge Out Of Water is an inferior movie overall, it feels mich closer to the show itself.

I loved it as a kid.
I rewatched it about 1-3 years ago, and it still held up remarkably well. The runtime is a bit much, but compared to more-recent SpongeBob movies (and, by extension, the newer episodes of SpongeBob Squarepants), it holds up well.
