British Dennis the Menace and American Dennis the Menace were both first published during the exact same week in their relative comics with both creators having no knowledge of the other for some years after.
But the Brit Dennis is indeed more of a menace. Something about growing up in a post war city surrounded by bombed out homes and factories made that sort of character relatable to British kids. Meanwhile post war American suburbia white picket fences and lemonade made the US version more relatable to the American sensibilities.
