See this is what a lot of people don't think about when trying to pull this shit; they don't think about the implications of a race swap conflicting with years of character history. It's like with Superman; you can have a black Superman, but you can't have a black Clark Kent. Sadly people are indeed judged for their skin color, and you can't just throw in the possibility of racism and expect it to mesh well with character history.
