Middle-era South Park

What are your thoughts on this middle era of South Park of Seasons 9-17? I hear 9 get a lot of praise but also a bit of flak (mainly for Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina). I hear Make Love, Not Warcraft, With Apologies to Jesse Jackson, Imaginationland, Major Boobage, and the Coon episodes get praised a lot. I don't hear the general thoughts about these seasons as a whole much though. It seems like a lot of people consider seasons 5-8 the sweet spot.

No one?

I loved Imaginationland.

Cartman saving Kyle's life so he could suck his balls was funny as fuck

Yeah honestly that whole thing was great.
It's not often but I really enjoyed Kyle getting fucked over like that, because he was just trying to mess with Cartman instead of fighting the fatass for some bigger cause.

9-11 is still pretty great, 12-17 is a different beast and not quite as good but enjoyable enough in its own way. I don't remember which season it was that they introduced PC Principal in, but it's been nearly nothing but shit since then.

That was Season 19 and that was also the second serialization season

I bring this from another thread.
My favorite era is the first half. After, it's more like "Family Guy" humor, mainstream humor ...

By first half, do you mean just the first 12 seasons or is there a specific cut-off point for you?

Technically, season 19 was the first to truly do a serialised season.
Season 18 did dabble into continuity with the 3 episodes leading into eachother, and then the 2-part finale bringing back Randy Lorde, But Episodes 4 through to 8 are completely standalone.

I find that the humor starts to change a little in the wrong way (for me) in season 10 and 11, for example "Cartoon Wars" or "Go God Go". After that I admit that it's my nostalgic side but it must be with the PC teacher that I stopped watching the new seasons. Well, I need to open my mind and do a marathon of the new episodes.

Fair enough

PC Principal is easily the best part of the modern seasons and has some of the best character development of any character. Everything else though after Season 19 can be a pain to sit through besides how horrible Cartman can be to Heidi.

Also, Season 9 was great but Season 10 definitely felt off to me too. It is definitely where I'd say the show took a hit for the worse. I like Cartoon Wars and Go God Go as well as Make Love, Not Warcraft and Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy, but that's about it. Season 11 had a few good episodes, but nothing that stands out really. Season 12 and 13 had a few stand outs and Season 14 was great. Season 15-17 was similar to 12 and 13. 10 onwards was definitely zombie South Park.

lol at that cartman

Killing Chef because them knee jerking off Hayes rather then doing their fucking research ended up casting a shadow over the show.

I forgot to mention that. South Park definitely went too far. With other celebrities they go savage on, you can tell it's just for fun. With Chef and Isaac Hayes, it was just fucked.

Except Hayes not actually quitting as his own decision, and it being a case of him having a stroke, and scientologists around him using that opportunity to shit on South Park and pretending it was Hayes, didn't become public knowledge until after Hayes died.

I know Not Without My Anus pulled the whole fakeout stunt to launch Season 2, but I'll never understand why it's STILL so hated to this day. Ugly Bob, searching for treja, Scott the dick -- I thought this episode was as funny if not funnier than most season 1 and 2 episodes.

The episode was insanely repetitive and tried turning an anti-joke mocking how people viewed the show into something full length. Ugly Bob and Scott the Dick got to shine better in Royal Pudding.

Not them, but it was still pretty shitty. South Park shits on people all the time, but they went beyond with Hayes and Chef

What are your favorite and least favorite episodes from this era?

Coon and Friends is my favorite
Eat, Pray, Queef is my least favorite

Not Without My Anus and Royal Pudding are strongly goods.

Not Without My Anus gets a lot of love in South Park threads. I like Pip though which more people hate so I can't complain.

>Not Without My Anus gets a lot of love in South Park threads
Those are just contarians

You can really say that about anyone

It reminds me of the imposter Cartman from Fat Camp

Come on. You have to have at least a favorite

Kyle kind of deserved what he got in Tonsil Trouble

I can still say
Not Without My Anus >>>>>>>>>>>> Eat, Pray, Queef

Did they tried to cover the asses during the subsequent years?

No, in fact, they made it worse

Boy, and the fanboy apologist keep whinning about "SOUTHPARK ALWAYS NEVER WRONG".
