If they wanted to hook SW fans why did they leave returning characters for season 2? Same mistake Rebels made.

This. Only the most lizard-brained retards think "strong female character" means "beats up men lol gurl power slay queen". Strong characters are those that aren't entirely dependent on another person, in the case of female characters, often a male knight in shining armor to solve all of her problems. This doesn't mean strong characters can't rely on friends, or even a lover, but that they are capable in their own right.

It's been a while, but I remember her being a terrible strategist for the Rebels. Like I think one of the things was they needed to get past a blockade to deliver supplies, and her strategy was just to try and fly past the Imperials head-on, which caused them to lose a decent amount of men/ships.

To be fair, Sabine did get her ass kicked and lose her cool from time to time. Like when Hera was almost killed she was out for blood and Kanan had to keep her under control. Even Bo-Katan asked her to ease up when Sabine wanted to fry all the imperials with her death ray.
