Why didn’t the crystal gems stop slavery?
Why didn’t the crystal gems stop slavery?
They did.
Don't they come from a society where slavery is condoned?
I thought it just never happened because if Sugar's "WWII never happened" bullshit, but after that CN special, they actually do acknowledge it, so yeah what the fuck
If wwii never happened in SU that means everyone is canonically still antisemitic
Yes but they specifically fought to be free of that
It's like the Dove Commercials
Non-canon events but they're still supposed to be in-character
Given WW2 didn't happen I wouldn't be surprised if the trans-Atlantic slave trade didn't happen either. IIRC the country they're in is never called America or the US, although we know there was some form of colonization of the continent by Europeans. The whole thing comes off as a "a wizard did it" scenario, where Sugar just wanted to write a story about a kid living with lesbian space rocks and wasn't prepared for people to ask her how the Crystal Gems reacted to the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand.
>the Dove Commercials
i KNEW i didn't fucking have that pearl shower dream for no reason
lol WWII helped people see black people in a positive light too, since they where fighting side by side against a common enemy in the Nazi's.
Oh, I haven't seen the show so I wasn't sure on that, only know some shit through osmosis. I thought Pearl still clung to that with Steve's mother but I guess she was just simping
Is the trans Atlantic slave trade didn’t happen wouldn’t there be no blacks in America?
Ssshhhhhhbh
They would eventually make their way there once their own countries were wrecked
>is never called America or the US
Considering their map is missing a few countries and Russia looks like it got sodomized by a meteor, it's safe to say that the history is drastically different. Their dollars have diamond logos on them and snake pictures too IIRC. There's an 80% chance any religion that they do have there is based on Gem shit
See, that's exactly what I was talking about. Sugar didn't set out to write an AU history of the world, she just wanted her show about aliens and cookie cats.
>I thought Pearl still clung to that with Steve's mother but I guess she was just simping
Nah. Pearl got really offended when someone else treated her like a slave and tried to shoo her away by clapping their hands. She misses the cool stuff about Homeworld like how pretty it is and how they could just go to any planet via spaceship but still acknowledges that it was all fucked
pretty sure Andy says America a few times in his debut episode
Ya te vi Dum
And that means 9/11 never happened.
well now what am i supposed to never forget?
The problem with the alternate history thing is that it's not alternate enough. Everything is pretty much exactly the same in terms of how people live their lives. The continents and state names are different, but beach city is a normal modern American town in every aspect. Steven has an N64, Gamecube, and a PS2. History can't be that different it it was able to produce those. The alternate universe thing is just a cover to give the staff an out for difficult questions about the setting. Everything's the same unless they need to explain why the gems didn't stop X atrocity, then suddenly it's an alternate universe where it didn't happen.
>The alternate universe thing is just a cover to give the staff an out for difficult questions about the setting.
Yeah but that's not a big deal because the show isn't about exploring what earth would be like if it was the stage for a civil war between aliens thousands of years ago.
How do you know they didn't stop slavery?
Unless there was a mass migration of them at some point.
wait really?
damn, now i wish slavery never happened
Slavery paved way for the Human Zoo episode.
I mean, they weren't even good at picking cotton anyway, so it just feels like everyone involved got fuck over by this whole ordeal.
The Alamo
wow in the the end white people were niggers we made along the way
>"WWII never happened"
So no Israel?
If we're pursuing this line of thought and SU is a world without things like slavery or WWII does that mean there wasn't mass genocide/re-location of native americans as well? Shouldn't they be more common place in the show if that's the case?
look at this pathetic looser wanting Attention aww
mommys little faggot is neglected
