No idea what this is, but the guy in the back looks like hes gonna kill whoever stole the golden balls from atop the minorette before he could.

Is this book worth reading?

Its arguably required reading.
The whole book seems like its just edgy for the sake of edgy until you realize that the events of the book are almost one hundred percent non fictitious

Me at the left

>The second in command, now left in charge of the camp, was a man of gigantic size who rejoiced in the name of Holden, called Judge Holden of Texas. Who or what he was no one knew, but a more cooler-blooded villain never went unhung. He stood six foot six in his moccasins, had a large, fleshy frame, a dull, tallow-colored face destitute of hair and all expression, always cool and collected. But when a quarrel took place and blood shed, his hog-like eyes would gleam with a sullen ferocity worthy of the countenance of a fiend… Terrible stories were circulated in camp of horrid crimes committed by him when bearing another name in the Cherokee nation in Texas. And before we left Fronteras, a little girl of ten years was found in the chaparral foully violated and murdered. The mark of a huge hand on her little throat pointed out him as the ravisher as no other man had such a hand. But though all suspected, no one charged him with the crime. He was by far the best educated man in northern Mexico.

Ah, blood meridian, monsieur? that novel is the sark and chaparral of literature, the filament whereon rode the remuda of highbrow, corraled out of some destitute hacienda upon the arroya, quirting and splurting with main and with pyrolatrous coagulate of lobated grandiloquence. our eyes rode over the pages, monsieur, of that slatribed azotea like argonauts of suttee, juzgados of swole, bights and systoles of walleyed and tyrolean and carbolic and tectite and scurvid and querent and creosote and scapular malpais and shellalagh. we scalped, monsieur, the gantlet of its esker and led our naked bodies into the rebozos of its mennonite and siliceous fauna, wallowing in the jasper and the carnelian like archimandrites, teamsters, combers of cassinette scoria, centroids of holothurian chancre, with pizzles of enfiladed indigo panic grass in the saltbush of our vigas, true commodores of the written page, rebuses, monsieur, we were the mygale spiders too and the devonian and debouched pulque that settled on the frizzen studebakers, listening the wolves howling in the desert while we saw the judge rise out of a thicket of corbelled arches, whinstone, cairn, cholla, lemurs, femurs, leantos, moonblanched nacre, uncottered fistulas of groaning osnaburg and kelp, isomers of fluepipe and halms awap of griddle, guisado, pelancillo.

Read the synopsis a while ago but it never got me into it. Is it actually good?

Do you think reading translated versions of a book "damage" its content?
I feel curious about this book but the prose is just too much for my english level, don't know if a translated version would be worth it

It's not a "plot" book in a sense but more a "mood" book if that makes sense. And that mood is sickening nausea caused by depraved violence mixed with confusion because commas and normal words are overrated.

What book?

>Not knowing Blood Meridian
You're missing out.

>spiritually violent
Like, they brutalize ghosts?

I ain't got no time for this bird sex shit.

It's Blood Meridian, a supposedly unadaptable western novel.

Blood Meridian is too adult for the average Zig Forums user

>Blood Meridian
>The Road
>No Country for Old Men

Who hurt him?

>supposedly unadaptable
I'd like to see you pitch a movie with; an army being sodomized and scalped en mass at the same time, a godlike warmongering pedophile, the protagonist being raped and murdered in an outhouse, and so on to some movie execs.

It needs an animated film
Richard Williams final convinced me of that

Blood Meridian.
Its a story about scalphunters.

>the protagonist being raped and murdered in an outhouse,
We have spoiler tags for a reason asshole
But apparently Seth Rogans production company was interested and did a proof of concept of the part where the Judge makes gunpowder
It was reportedly shit and McCarthy shot it down

>Seth Rogen

I figured that "a movie with;" would have been ample warning, my apologies. If it's any consolation, it's not a confirmed thing and any claims about The Man's fate are pure conjecture and speculation.

Its about a lot of things

>based on true events

yeah, american history, and all history really, is filled with really really nasty shit

>tfw no three hour slow burn southern gothic blood meridian animated kino

It's hardly a Comanche apologist work either
The Thesis is basically that horrifying violence bis the norm for humanity and that what we think of as civilization is very fragile
Feeds into the whole carrying fire thing from No Country and The Road

HE
DID
NOTHING
WRONG

>The Judge (played by the rock in whiteface)

Attached: 1600363538821.gif (81x81, 186.4K)

the scary part is that it could work if the Rock had the range to pull off the psychological aspect

maybe 'beautiful darkness', but its not that violent just dark
