Is this the one of the biggest WE WUZ KANGZ kinda shit that was announced recently?
I mean just look at it
Is this the one of the biggest WE WUZ KANGZ kinda shit that was announced recently?
I mean just look at it
Yes but it won't come out
It’s afrofuturism, sci-fi, why are you mad
I mean I'm all for seeing what Afrofuturism would actually look like if enough of it was made for a little genre to emerge and have some consistent themes and stand outs
Without me knowing the actual plot, why does this scream Romeo and Juliet BUT IN DA FEEUCHA?
So is this a bare minimum low effort "All Africa is the same" shit like Disney tried with their Mulan remake, or is this going to see rival ethnic groups pitted against each other that most people outside Africa can't even pronounce?
Or are we gonna go extra landwhale and shoehorn some retarded 'White man invades perfect utopia' like these people love to fetishize?
Not OP. I'm mad cause it's Disney. Even when partnered with someone they manage to fuck it up(Mulan) and do the bare minimum effort to make it look good and maybe sell it on some social justice angle(First gay character! First trans character! First gay black character!) but half ass it so they can remove it for countries that didn't drink the kool-aid yet.
>Light and dark/different architecture themes
>fancy dress and average joe
>literal river separating the two
I'd be shocked if it WASN'T a romeo and juliet scenario
I bet the left side are hardcore traditionalists while right side are forward-thinking. Girl is some sheltered daughter with a probable arranged marriage, boy is working class guy trying to rise in the callous and competitive culture of his side
They're gonna buy Kugali in another year or so
No chance they actually acknowledge inter-black racial conflict, but I could still see them simply pretending huwites just never showed up
OP is a viral marketer
Was all that sci fi stuff built by the Chinese?
Oh god, when will it end?
>just turn white stories into black
>half the future buildings are just native African statues made to look like unstable buildings
>The other half are just copy paste Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta
>call it afrofuturism
>fancy dress and average joe
This part stuck out more as Lady and the Tramp, but, in terms of having a sprawling and abundant future aesthetic, both parts of the city look well-adjusted (although, yeah, the left certainly has the edge) But everything else just says Romeo & Juliet.
Probably a combo of the 2, like The Lion King is just a combo of Hamlet with lions, this is probably R&J with L&T, or vice versa.
...in da feeucha.
I like how the fucking flying "car" it literally just your normal African shitty car, but with Jet engines on it and no wheels and thats it, not even any doors or shit, just jet engines stapled to it
>scrappers keep stealing the control rods from your nuclear power plant
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
what am I supposed to be looking at
Looks good.
>black people complain about too much European shit in fantasy
>white people tell them to make their own cartoons
>black people proceed to make their own cartoons
I’m sorry what’s the issue here? Like we don’t know anything about the quality of the show yet, only that’s it’s Afro-futurism. Which is just black people sci fi.
This. Afrofuturism is one of the most exciting things in speculative fiction in years. I'd love to see tropes and cliches become codified so it could be an actual, bonafied genre.
>black people make their own cartoons
>under Disney's umbrella
Do you not see the problem here?
You mean Jewish people making cartoons about black people.
it's a show? I woulda thought it'd be a movie
the problem is that they haven't given a series to UgoJesse yet
Well, not really, that’s how international corporations work. At a certain point they transcend race or nationality and just focus on pure profit over anything else. The studio managed to harness some of that raw capitalism and I hope it does them well. It could inspire more studios outside of the Japanese-American dichotomy
A cartoon movie is still a cartoon user
>afrofuturism
Sounds cool
...Right, but I asked about the word SHOW, user
I guess I might have picked it up from "series" but maybe it could have been several planned movies but that would be a stretch by any measure
>we wuz kangz
>a collaboration with an actual african company
the one time disney doesn't do something retarded and you cry wolf? dumb bitch.
It's gonna flop because gringos don't give a shit about foreign media that doesn't appeal to their rent free culture
It's a shame because I think Afrofuturism could be a valid sci-fi subgenre. But Disney will make this movie a Cinderella story or Romeo and Juliet retelling. This movie will likely barely have the world interact with the story and just have the high-tech location as a background for aesthetics. This won't be afrofuturism, this will be trash.
I don't get why African futurism specifically is so popular with this big corpos. Why not Asian or hispanic? Is it because it's like a fish out of water scenario since Africans are the least likely to achieve that level of development?
Looks cool but what's with black people and futuristic cities

Ah, it's diaspora shit. No surprise it's "pan" african.
50/50 it will be chicano tier bullshit or we may get some completely forgettable shit.
It's just grabbing for brownie points
They KNOW it's a dead on arrival "genre" that they can forget after one or two relatively cheap losses while being able to claim how diverse they are
