Man. Early Homer was pretty cool

Early Homer was a legitimately good, if flawed, man. The last 20 years he's just been a borderline-abusive retarded psychopath.

Season 1 was so normal its shocking how much he devolved.

They had to change it in order to get the "edgy" audience that liked Family Guy and South Park

Even in season 6 he's more of a buffoon than a well meaning simple man.

It always bothered me that every time the writers toyed with the idea of separating Marge and Homer, they took for granted that Marge would get a better husband and Homer would live unhappy the rest of his life, I saw an alternate reality where a single or divorced Homer met Lurleen.
