The three in the middle are the same colour because they were all a part of the historical province of Carniola and form a dialectal group within Slovene.

nah, in the 15th and 16th centuries the Italian municipal authorities settled us (as well as Serb and Croat refugees, which is why coastal dialects sound a bit close to their languages) in the surrounding countryside of their own accord as a deterrent to Turkish raids. The German barons did so elsewhere in the same period but purely to exploit the wooded highland wilderness that makes up most of Slovenia.
