The only good monarch is the one that lead the frontlines against enemies, one that is decentralized and relies on other nobles to maintain the kingdom. Absolutist/Constitutionalist Monarchies are absolute cancer, one is gnostic/pagan shit and the other is basically slave to the economic sector

Hereditary Chiefs here are corrupt as shit, but at least they have some connection with the community they're ruling,and a vested interest in preserving the status quo or bettering their community.

Democracy in Canada tends to only elect over-educated cosmopolitan types who've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars buying "qualifications" that they can wave in your face to justify ruling you.Then those individuals, having proven themselves as useful cogs in the machine, must find a wealthy backer to fund their political aspirations: usually it is gang affiliated, Chinese money, or some recourse extraction company. Hereditary Chiefs are chill poor natives who've gotten fucked over a lot the last couple generations but hang on to their traditions and history in spite of it all.

In the recent battles about pipelines it's pretty clear how hereditary aristocracy results in fundamentally different political values than democratic systems. The elected Native Band representatives have unanimously supported construction of pipelines (in exchange for a lot of money under the table and campaign contributions), the Hereditary Chiefs have flatly refused any sort of construction on their territory, and faced prison time in order to protest.

Plus I've got a couple of friends who have aristocratic lineage, despite growing up in a rural shithole drug addict town. Every future politician on the other hand is sitting around in the PolySci department at UBC sniffing each others farts and circlejerking about SJW bullshit. I'll take the devil I know over the moralizing disconnected weirdos who fantasize about being politicians while binge-watching House of Cards and so on.
