Why are Germans so shamed of their pre-war heritage? They don't use symbols like the Iron Cross anymore even though it was from Prussian times. In Japan we take pride as long as the symbol was historically used before the fascist regime. We have more nuance than Germans

I know.. i know.

I designed a warflag for modern German based on historical patterns

>They don't use symbols like the Iron Cross anymore
It's on all their tanks, planes etc

They stopped saying they were the best and proved it by being the economic center of Europe. Symbolism is for weak minded fools.

The Bundeswehr Gold Cross of Honor sort of looks like it, but you're right, it has sadly been eliminated

Same reason why you are basically forbidden from using this flag

they still use the ironcross in their military, and as the ashamed part... they're still a bit shocked about their sociopathic great grandparents. give it another 70 years and they'll be fine.

But it's not?

The Heer uses the cross on everything. It’s a martial symbol, rightly used in military settings, not a catchall symbol for Germany or it’s government. They have the Bundesadler for that

>Symbolism is for weak minded fools.
why

Because after WW2 the Allies created the so called Sonderweg theory that claimed that Germans have never been part of Western civilization and have never had any culture or society outside from extreme military aggression, so in order to become accepted into the family of progressive western nations they would have to shun all of their old ways and accept the progressive democratic western way of life.

But its not used on their war flag or as a military decoration anymore

>forbidden from using this flag
????

Based. German men are now controlled successfully with EuroTruck simulator.

I'm glad you're part of the mutt family. US, UK, France and Germany rule this world and we're gonna need each other against the Chinese menace.

The Iron Cross was only awarded during war times anyway and we have never been at war since WW2.

it's what keeping their lust for war and destruction down. if only farming simulator was around, Hitler probably wouldn't go exterminate a race

Eh its just some worthless sigil who cares
Just make a new one if you need

To be fair Prussian Militarism had a tendency to do some pretty shitty things

Wow, that's badass.

based

pls stop bring up the past. the last thing Germans want to be reminded is the atrocities their grandparents did.

prussian militarism basically boiled down to walkign around in uniform all day and worshipping the military. meanwhile the uk and france started and foughr the actual wars the entire time. prussians even kept conscription artificially low to avoid having too many commoners in the military while the french invented the levee en masse.

desu, I was fully aware of the conspiracy when FarmVille became popular on facebook. (((Zuckerberg))) pushed it because they knew that a game about mundane crop management and farm economics would be the perfect device to enslave the Germanic mind.

And neither have we

99% of all germans hate germany

I think he's referencing how Koreans and Chinese have a nuclear-tier chimpout whenever that flag shows up on media, but it's obviously not equivalent to German prohibitions/taboos at all.

no they don't... do they really?

but they do

>UK and France started and fought the actual wars
You're right, you just instigated them to do so like in the Franco-Prussian War. Or for that matter what are all the atrocities committed during their time?
Or going further into the future the crimes committed in Belgium in the early stages of WW1.

I'm not going to argue that others are better, but I don't think we should glorify the militarism of the past under any sort of situation, no matter the country.

Prussian militarism is a heavily exaggerated meme. Prussia swung very heavily into “enlightened progressive liberalism” as much if not more than “reactionary martial conservatism”. Boiling down the history of Brandenburg and also Prussia into Pickelhäube and Frederick’s boner for tall boys in uniforms is one of the greatest disservices to understanding not only Germany but all of Europe from the Middle Ages onward.

In fact, their eventual growth to power was much more powered by strategic marriages and superb diplomacy than it ever was by military conquest. Even their acquisition of “Prussia” was thanks to conventional, not martial events.

the bad ones hate it for what it was
the good ones hate it for what it has become
