It's worth mentioning their empire didnt last very long and relied mostly on besieging a town and either A) setting them on fire B) taxing them heavily

Crossbows were quite popular actually.

They didn't do very well agains heavily armoured knights though, especially during the second invasion of Hungary where the Hungarians had learnt their lessons from the previous one.
