Its really sad. The majority of people still remember WW2. But no one remember about Otton II and alliance between Germany & Poland.
I have root from Germany (My grandfather was soldier in wermaht, my grany was half-german blood. But my father didnt me your language. Sad.

While hate is a too strong word, there are still mostly negative stereotypes and prejudices against Poles and Poland in Germany. I think there is no positive trait Germans could assign to Poles stereotypically.

Not really. There are so many Poles living here now. They are our co-workers, our uni mates, our sport partners, or friends, our boyfriends or girlfriends, our neighbors.
Why is the west better, in your opinion?
It worries me that you cannot fathom praise for your country from a German.

You were working class trash - just like we were working class trash after WW2. And just like us, you seized the moment after the iron curtain fell, put in a lot of hard work, modernizing your country that was in ruins from communism in literally no time. You managed to shed every trace of communism, just like we managed to shed every trace of national socialism. Like us, you turned your economy around at a very high speed. You managed to do so while keeping corruption on a very low level - just like us.

There are so many parallels between Germany and Poland it really boggles the mind. On the outside, we are different countries -- on the inside we are siamese twins.

Not him. Polish stereotypes are a thing of the past for the most part. Poles integrated so well there isn't any remarkable difference anymore. At best Poles are seen as honest and hard working people. And even this is only true of the Poles moved here recently. The Poles I went to school with all got a university degree and are becoming of the middle class.
