A Dutch farmer made a very powerful statement by dumping potatoes in front of a distribution centre of a supermarket. The farmer was angry the potatoes didn't sell due to lower demand (most Dutch potatoes are turned into fries sold at restaurants) so he dumped the potatoes in protest of them not buying the potatoes.

If they can't sell fries at the moment what are they meant to do, pay him for produce they won't use just because?

Read this. The EU is pretty much 50% politics and 50% straight up farm subsidies.
Few people know it but farms are by far the largest EU budget. It's more than what they give all the Eastern-Euros or even the money used to bail out Greece.

Why do farmers struggle so much? Food is something we all need, there should be a huge demand

- foreigners
- leftists
- the EU
- the government

EU allows for free trade meaning dirty foreigners can undercut their subsidized products (despite majority of Dutch food is exported)
EU is also demonic organization that sometimes in order to make trade deals allowing for everything European (from food to cars) to be exported doesn't make sure foreigners cannot ship their food here.
As for the leftists they hate farmers for being hardworking and good people with their complaints about farms being economically unviable and a huge strain on our ecology in an already overcrowded small country. Obviously they are wrong because farmers are good.
