What's it like living near the border between countries?

I hate hard borders s omuch

I'm living near the tri-point between Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, it took me a little more than 20 minutes to walk there.
Occasionally I would go to Holland to shop for various reasons (on Sunday when supermarkets close in Germany for example)
Going to the Netherlands to shop is quite common amongst female chinese students here as well
Many youngsters (mostly male) go there for *DUDE WEED LMAO*
I once gave direction to a young clueless Dutch couple, aside from that I hardly see Dutch people coming here.
In comparision, there're more Belgians visiting for the sauna and thermal bath (they spoke French but I assumed they're Belgian)

Living on the Canadian/American border is like “teehee I illegally touched my toe in Canada without showing my official papers haha try and arrest me Canadians I’m such a rebel” while living on the border between say India and Pakistan I’m sure is some completely more macabre affair.

Norwegian border is 300 meters from my house. It's just a random "line" in the woods that's only visible on a map.
