What? EU was very reasonable from the start with clear guide lines on how to do the treaty. UK internal political struggle is what pushed the deadline always forward. And even if there's no treaty, there'll still be a separation, only without trade treaty that'll be a bad thing to both parties. Still a peaceful separation unlike US that greedily held on southern states in the War of Northern Aggression killing hundreds of thousands of citizens.
