I think the same. Just put money into improving conditions. If we had sustained the number of refugees we had before DP, and in all likelihood it would have increased, we would have 10 times the amount (conservatively) of refugees.
As long as there are stories about sub-par conditions, then anti-DP activists will always have strong grounds to oppose it. We should all strive for every person residing here to have their basic needs met.

Why do people complain about direct provision so much? Most of those "refugees" are scam artists anyway.

Because if the privileged races ask for something you're literally an early twentieth century German ultranationalist if you think your country shouldn't be made to provide for them.
Direct provision is the government's holding pen for asylum seekers (ie: people claiming to be refugees who haven't been acknowledged as legitimate refugees even by modern standards). They get free housing and "provisions", it's just limited and controlled. It's perfectly comfortable for what it's designed as which is temporary accommodation for people who are moving from a state of uncertainty as to the legitimacy of their claim to asylum to a decision one way or the other. It's just being abused by a few thousand people to stay for far longer than the system legitimately should allow them. They're not refugees, else the government would let them have all the anti-provision quangos want them to have and more. But they haven't been deported as bogus fake refugee freeloaders because that would be even more waycis than giving them free room and board indefinitely, which is apparently the biggest injustice going on in modern Ireland!
