I keep hearing of these consequences but no one ever lists them out
>oh my gosh, Teddy Unabomberinho Kaczyinscerinho you've missed out on 14 Star Wars movies. Let's go the movies, right now and watch 'em together!
yes
>depression and other mental disorders
>environmental catastrophe
this is where they start larping as curmudgeonly 75-year-olds to cope with their personal failures
This but unironically.
Technology will never go backwards. Every "collapse" did not lead to degeneration but rejunevatuon from barbarians to collapse of china.
So this is the new counter-culture fad, huh? Are you people just going to sit around and pretend to be against modern technology? Lame.
Are you aware of the Roman Empire. The ancient technology was lost for ~1500 years, bro.
neutrals get the stone too
>depression and other mental disorders
Give proof that humans didn't suffer from mental illness' before the industrial revolution
>environmental catastrophe
How did the industrial revolution cause the 5 other mass extinction events that happened millions of years before humans
bullshit, the medieval era was more advanced technologycally than the roman era
Environment. Although the world is going to end in a few billions of years anyway, may as well industrialise and hope that we can leave our solar system one day
I'm not advocating for Kaczynski's ideology. So I won't bother, getting worked up, b/c of it. He sure had some interesting ideas, though. Did you read his manifesto?
No. In fact, medieval era saw greater progress in agricultural yields with better technolohy while rome stagnated. Barbaians rejunevated a rotting empire.
No la pongo por culpa de la revolución industrial
No, technology got more expensive, but the technology itself didn't really dissapeared, except for a few minor things.
No, I have a habit of not reading ramblings by insane people.
His manifesto was a meme. No new ideas at all, just copies of what other people wrote
Ancient Rome was more advanced than the Dark Age. For example, the standard of Roman canalisation wasn't re-achieved until the 1800's. It's deductively reasonable, too, that the technology would be more advanced during the antiquity, than (shortly) after the demise of the antiquity (~500 AD); otherwise, there'd be no "demise", at all.
is about how taking a pill make the system for an individual "tolerable" when without that he would just kys, that pill is alterning the human behaviour, so is inhuman and morally wrong.
Overpopullation with inferior genes keep living thanks to vaccines and modern medicine when in a primitive culture the nature will take care of them and kill them quickly.
Look china everyone with lung problems because pollution, is that really what you want for you or your kids?
A lot society dropped writing after the bronze age collapse, rome had the steam engine, greeks had proto-calculus, the lycurgus cup's technique for glass blowing was lost and despite being mentioned by many people it wasn't until one was found that people believe the romans were able to make color-changing glass, the US isn't able to put a man on the moon today, technologies do get lost.
Well, then stay ignorant.
The ideas in his manifesto (even if not his own) are interesting, nevertheless.
Probably technical innovation going so far that humans themselves don't understand the mechanism behind it anymore. Taking the terminator and skynet topic a bit too much seriously. Teddy mentioned medicine, environmental degradation and nuclear iirc, but probably one can add the internet and such too. It ain't technology for human gains anymore, but the other way around.
>The leftist of the oversocialized type tries to get off his psychological leash and assert his autonomy by rebelling. But usually he is not strong enough to rebel against the most basic values of society. Generally speaking, the goals of today’s leftists are NOT in conflict with the accepted morality. On the contrary, the left takes an accepted moral principle, adopts it as its own, and then accuses mainstream society of violating that principle.
Was he right all along bros?
He could see it coming. Nobody listened.
He also mentions how technology increasingly takes more liberties with the example of the 2 neighbors in the manifesto
>technical innovation going so far that humans themselves don't understand the mechanism behind it anymore
This is already the case for social innovations. People are extremely disconnected from their survival and don't see their role as being essential for maintaining society which is why you see a lot more social movements from the industrial revolution onward. People want to reorganize society so they feel more in control of their life and survival. Having such a big society alienates them from that.
