Bandit to Russians, hero to West Ukrainians. He's basically used as a kind of boogeyman to stoke up anti-Ukrainian sentiment, especially in Donbass. Was assassinated in the late 50s by Bogdan Stashinsky

Bandit to everyone but Ukrainians

...

I'm a 31 year old Kievan user, and the first time in my life, when I heard about Bandera, was from Russian movie Brat-2 in the end of 2000. Even in the school if we talked over Bandera in the history class, I do not remember this.

So, mainly Bandera is a figure for political propaganda nowadays.

He is also a reason of anti-ukrainian sentiment in Poland.

in western ukraine it is different, the more west you go the more bandera is a hero.

Ordinary goy

Maybe you are right, but I was in Western Ukraine dozen times, and never heard talkings about Bandera also. I know there are many monuments for him there, but we are not the most educated nation on the Earth, so I don't think that many people from west Ukraine can explain why Bandera is a hero and what he has done. It's mainly like love for Santa Claus - all people like him then I should too.

quick rundown?

>He's basically used as a kind of boogeyman to stoke up anti-Ukrainian sentiment
this tbqh
as far as I can tell Ukrainians don't really care, but polish right wingers spam about this dude 24/7

Basically he was a leader in the Ukraine Insurgent Army and collaborated with the Germans in a kind of partisan fashion for national liberation from USSR. After the war, he was one of the leaders of a wing in the emigre nationalist organization, the OUN. He lived in exile in Germany under a pseudonym, had relations with Anglo-American intelligence agencies and was assassinated because he was a bugbear of Khruschevs. But the assassination was mostly symbolic
From what I read in the news, it seems that Bandera is more popular these days but have no idea how they teach about him in Russian schools. But for many Russians, from what I can tell at least, what they teach about him is obviously very negative and in propaganda, serves effectively the same purpose that Petliura and Makhno did in the interwar years

...

**Ukrainian schools, my bad

>Bandera is more popular these days
Yes, becaus after 2014 our propaganda is in need of a figure, who fought for Ukrainian independence. Personally I don't think that Bandera fought for today's oligarchical Ukraine with poor oppressed population and rich neo-nomenclatura, but nevertheless.

Traitor, war criminal, what else?

Retard. He through Nazis can be trusted and ended up in konzlager.

Montenegro is nuts. Serbs are crypto-Russians and Montenegrins are crypto-Serbs.

How has it been since Maidan, war aside? The EU Association report from a couple years ago indicated some positive development, but have they really gotten rid of the Party of Regions clique and those of similar mentality or is it still more or less the same?

¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿Who???????????????????????????????

We're basically Serbian Ukraine except Montenegro has way more claim to historical existence and identity than Ukraine.

I must admit the only former Yugoslav state I've ever visited is Croatia but from all I've seen it seems people in Montenegro wouldn't be opposed to just being part of Serbia. I'm not sure why you're separate.

>is it still more or less the same?
This. Many guys from the Party of Regions found their place in other, even pro-West parties. But personally I see the problem in our corrupt bureaucracy and the state system: we have very wealthy judges, prosecutors, police, state security and customs officials, and they care about each other. Mutual responsibility and collective guarantee. And they want that their children also become wealthy bureaucrats. And we do not have strong enough political will from the top of government and the president to break this system.

Which existing political organisation in Ukraine do you think might be able to break this system?

I've never heard of him until ruskies became butthurt of second ussr not happening

Noone, because our "elites" are interested in such state of affairs. They all are friends among themselves and only play foes in front of cameras. It's a well known fact here. And it is a well known fact, that we are naive and fool nation, which vote for TV and political advertising/promises.
Personally I voted for these guys, but they failed

What about movements like the Azov guys or those associated with the guys at Militant Zone? Also do you think your elites will ever negotiate their way out of the donbass crisis or are they too invested in it continuing or just lacking in competence? I have a suspicion some elites might want it to drag on so they can getting money and support from NATO countries but i cannot say so for sure

the more west you go the more black red flags are hanging

>What about movements like the Azov guys or those associated with the guys at Militant Zone?
I'm a pragmatic guy, so I think that Azov guys just earn their money with some nationalistic fun.
>Also do you think your elites will ever negotiate their way out of the donbass crisis or are they too invested in it continuing or just lacking in competence?
Partly all of this. Higher military stuff is interested in such frozen war, because of budget money. Anti-reformists also (they can say that reforms fail because of the war and of the hand of Kremlin, etc), and we have too many of them in bureaucracy and among people with power.
The only right way to overcome such crysis is to become economically attractive country like German Federal Respublic, and to join Donbass like GDR in 1989. But you should win over corruption first, and that is not acceptable for our many politicians.

Mainly all that they know about these flags, that they belong to Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Mainly all that they know about Ukrainian Insurgent Army, that it sounds cool and patriotic.
For example, do you or your friends really know much about Armia Krajowa?

His name is...
