8/2 (2+2) = ?

I'm a zoology student all I need is an english degree and to memorise some words.

4(4) = 4*4=16

ふわふわ

8/ 2(4) = 8/ 2*4 = 8/8 = 1

Is there supposed to be an operator between 8/2 and (2+2)? I'll go with the above

2 (2+2) = 8
8*8 = 64

(8*(2+2))/2 = 16
8 / (2 * (2+2)) = 1
Which one is it OP?

16

Oh shit I forgot to divide the 8
64/8 = 8

this is literally elementary school tier mathematics

8/2 = 4
4 * (2 =((8
((8 + 2) = ((10)

I fixed it in

8/2=4
2+2=4
4*4=16

24 is definitely not the answer.
40/2=20
20-32=-12

When do you ever see shit written on one line like that? Maybe in very early school, after that division is always written as a fraction so you clearly see what's above the line and what's below it

You shouldn't see anything written like that.
If its written unclear, you should either state that its unclear or solve all solutions.

1

Yeah because after elementary school no one would write a problem in that way

I can't remember the last time I saw something written like this other than the last 100 times I saw this thread.

16?

Nigger why the fuck are you dividing the 40 on 2
It's 32/2 then the result subtracts 40.
it's fucking 24

* / 8 2 + 2 2
* / 8 2 4
* 4 4

no, remember BEDMAS. You do the divison first, since there are no brackets or exponents.

40-32/2 = 40 - 32/2 = 40 - 16 = 24

Thats because you should never be stupid enough to write like that
IRL
with pen and paper.

Depends if you go by the modern method or the boomer method.
In one the answer is 16, in the other it's 1.
Boomers usually answer differently because the standard method for going about these problems has changed (both are correct, though. What changes is the way you read it)
It can be (8/2) * (2 + 2)/1 or 8/(2 * (2 + 2)
This problem shows that our notation system is not effective, and is highly ambiguous.
Using polish notation would be better.
(/ 8 (* 2 (+ 2 2) ) ) = 1
(/ (* 8 (+ 2 2)) 2) = 16
Not ambiguous this way.

Monkeyman what are you even on about.

1.
I am EXTREMELY smart

Ambiguity of the way we write expressions, the reason people here get two answers.
Wouldn't happen with polish notation.

since there is nothing between 2 and ( then entire (2+2) is a
>8/2a = 4/a
a=4
4/4=1

8/2(2+2)
4(2+2)
8 + 8
