>In the darkest days of World War II, when disaster after disaster almost overwhelmed the Allies, it took a lot to shake a leader like Winston Churchill.
>But when the news arrived that the fortress of Singapore had surrendered to the Japanese on February 15, 1942, along with eighty thousand British troops, even Churchill was stunned.
>“He felt it was a disgrace,”recalled Lord Moran, the prime minister’s physician. “It left a scar on his mind. One evening, months later, when he was sitting in his bathroom enveloped in a towel, he stopped drying himself and gloomily surveyed the floor: ‘I cannot get over Singapore,’ he said sadly.”
reminder that churchill begged the US to focus 100% of its resources on Europe and to let Japan have its way with asia

But then it opens itself to semantics. You can argue they fall within the realm of gradual drawdowns and so forth depending on the circumstances. Battles are more straightforward by comparison.

Tbf though are best army led by our best general of the entire war avenged Singapore and utterly devistated the Japs in burma. It's a shame almost no-one knows about the 14th.
We stilled owned Hong Kong for another 50+ years though

We made a movie on it, about the story of Indian troops in Singapore following Japanese conquest youtu.be/NG6PUj-TUfY

How does India reconcile that the Indians in the 14th army fought against Azad Hind, but Azad Hind is a symbol of Indian nationalism? Also General Slim was based.
All Indian medals and honours given by the British Empire to Indians fighting against Indians is branded as “tainted” honours.
I mean the whole colonial military history has to be rewritten. The “English” troops who fought against the Maratha Confederacy and the Sikh Empire were also Indians. That’s why you won’t hear about soldiers in the Indian freedom movement because Indian soldiers sided with the British Empire not just in India but were deployed in Africa against Boers, Italy against Germans, Singapore against Japanese and in India against Indians. It’s actually a source of guilt.
>Indians fighting against Indians It was actually Indians fighting against Japanese, which is quite an important task seeing as the Japs started the famine in Bengal.

The Thais lost the sea war terribly (their 8" gun coastal defence ships and land based aviation should have been enough to take a light cruiser and some sloops) but they annihilated the French on land and in the air but due to the loss at Koh Chang an indecisive peace was negotiated by Japan that nobody was really happy with. Thailand had wanted to take all of Laos and Cambodia while France thought they shouldn't have lost anything at all.
they were expecting a sea battle. their big guns only had AP shells which were useless against infantry. when nihongos took over west malaysia, and cut off the water supply from singapoor, it was pretty much over.

Looks kino. Don't mass reply though, that's some attention whoring.

I like indian cinema but I dont watch historic movies, I know some parts are alway embellished or changed to make a better movie. I'm afraid I'll leave worst than ignorant, thinking the wrong information is correct. That's why I dont watch any narco series or movies and discourage other people from seeing them.
