what book are you currently reading? are you enjoying it? would you recommend it? why are you reading it?
I am reading Why Nations Fail. I am enjoying it so far, and I suppose I would recommend it to those who may be interested in books about power dynamics regarding institutions. I am reading it because someone on /lit/ recommended it.
I'm reading some random vn/wn. I'm allergic to well-written and complex (difficult to read) readings.

sounds interesting, what has the book talked about so far? is it eye opening or interesting for a korean to read?
Bentley Russell
the great anglo-boer war so far it is pretty interesting. I like history but i also didn't realise it was made in 1975 until after i bought the audiobook so it's a little dated. But its pretty balanced which is good. I've got 20 hours left and everything except the second boer war has already been covered so i think it might turn into extremely long winded military history. Which is fine but i also think military history gets into the lots of information stage and isn't useless or applicable in real life like social/political history and how institutions form

reading walden it's pretty fucking boring reading it because it's a classic and you've got to read the classics
Andrew King
It's pretty much just propaganda

I’ve read those 800 page Russian novels you always hear about but I still can’t get into Walden, nigga fuck Walden Germinal by Emile Zola
Xavier Ward

I'm not reading it fully, but i would recommend to everybody interest in this topic.
Depends what you read dude. I read an American book about WW2 when I was 13, think it was called Foot Soldier or something like that. Not pretty at all, very god damn graphic and grim, no heroes and shit.
Nolan Smith
One of my favorite books, how do you like it?
Joshua Stewart
Book I am reading? Easy Spanish Step - by - Step Chapter 3 atm, seems decent for a self study manual.
Carson Kelly
lol idk. just pick something you're interested in. what front or aspect of ww2 interests you?
I personally am reading Hitler: A Global Biography. It's controversial because it pushes the idea that hitler was actually primarily scared of the anglo-american world order, rather than the "judeo-bolshevik" sphere of the USSR. it's interesting. "Hitler's Soldiers" was also good. Rick Atkinson's series (army at dawn, day of battle, guns at last light were good).
Not all American war books are blind propaganda either. That's if you purposefully look for the low brow writers. Some of the sickest, most depressing war books were by americans. One was about this US unit in vietnam that kept casually slaughtering civilians. it was depressing and I didn't finish it. others try to have a balanced take, like black hawk down and hue 1968

The King in Yellow. It’s been alright.

Just ordered this. I have an issue when I go to look up a book that I often spoil myself. Fuck Goodreads reviews
really great, don't know why i didn't read it yet.

>Sowing the Dragons teeth it's a good book on Roman/Byzantine warfare in the 10th century. It has two military manuals written in the period translated in English and a analysis with further sources talking about the army. I'm reading for the sake of writing my own book on Byzantine warfare from 476-1453.
>Shahnameh Just something to read an hour before I go to sleep. its really just a good story to me, bit excited to read about Alexander/Sekander. Think it's interesting that they call everyone from the west to be living in Rum and call them Romans, I think this is probably because the only real interaction they have had with the West while the writer was alive was with the Byzantine Romans.

I want to insert reading books into my daily routine but I simply lack time for it. During the day I have to do my work, practice some hobby, study so I need to read really borking books and do exercise. Even then I wouldn't know what to read. I used to read fantasy a lot when I was a teen but nowdays I am not sure if that what I should read.
Nathaniel Nguyen
oh and some japanese training books. for the future though, is there any good jap literature? i've read the folklore in translated versions and shit like that. it's almost like you can just, not read an american book and not have to shitpost about america for one second.
Cameron Scott
Nice I’m glad to hear that since he’s one of my major influences. I also recommend Brothers Karamazov. It falls off hard after the first part. Great book, love McCarthy Read what sounds interesting to you. Just pick a genre that you like and look at classic books in that genre.
